5. Business communication, its features. The effectiveness (efficiency) of business communication.

5.1. The concept of business communication. Its features, forms and types.

Business communication is a bilateral or multilateral process, caused by the need to implement administrative or professional functions by establishing relationships and setting up feedback. In comparison with friendly communication the feature of business communication is that it is not organized on“sympathy – antipathy (антипатія, несумісність)”, “I want - I do not want”. This type of communication is based on the principle of mutual usefulness of business partners, objectivity of perception of each other. Unlike friendly communication, which can be spontaneous, unorganized, unprepared and not purposeful, business communication is organized and prepared in advance. It is always aimed at achieving a certain goal.

Business communication is implemented in such forms as a subordinate, business and friendly, friendly communication.

Subordinate Communication (субординаційне) provides communication between managers and subordinates. It is based on the administrative law. Such kind of communication can be found between leaders and performers and between the leaders of different levels. It has linear, functional or mixed (linear functional) nature. In case of linear relationship each head may have several subordinates, but each subordinate can have only one direct supervisor. In case of functional relations employee may be subordinated to several heads at the same, who monitor the implementation of the specific functions.

Business and friendly communication is typical for communication between colleagues. Its basis is the administrative and moral standards.

Friendly communication is the psychological interaction between heads, heads and subordinates. It is based on the moral and psychological norms of interaction.

In the system of business and professional relationships there are some types of business communication: tutorial, liberal, informative, "inspired" confrontational.

The type of business communication is directly dependent on the style of management. The tutorial type of communication corresponds to authoritarian style of management. It is based on the unilateral management and communication, focused on edification and instruction. This style of management also corresponds to the "informative" type of communication, which is aimed at the transmission of information. This type of communication is ineffective because simple retransmission of information promotes only its passive perception.

"Inspired" type of business communication is typical for democratic style of management (it is characterized by the activity of all participants, combination of strictness and justice, dialogicality).

Confrontational type of communication causes discussion, dialogue with opponents. It corresponds to democratic style of management.

Liberal type of communication corresponds to liberal style of management. It is the inability of the head in the process of business interaction to influence its result. The head « goes with the tide пливе за течією».
