Verbs to see, to look and to watch
To see (saw, seen) –to become aware of sth, using your eyes - видеть.
Can you see that man in a blue suit? I saw an accident on my way to school today.
Tolook –to turn your eyes in a particular direction - смотреть (обозначаетпроизвольноенамеренноедействие).
Look at the picture attentively and describe it.The teacher stopped and looked around to see if there were any questions.
To watch – to look carefully at sb/sth -наблюдатьзапроисходящим, смотретьтелевизор, наблюдатьзаптицами (to watch birds/television/a video/a programme etc.)

DIOGENES AND ALEXANDER THE GREAT
There lived a wise man … ancient Greece whose name was Diogenes [dai’odзini:z]. Men came … all parts of the land to see him and talk … him. Diogenes was a strange man. He said that no man needed much, and so he did not live … a house but slept … a barrel, which he rolled about … place … place.
