Introduction
Coursework is one of the main types of independent work of students having an exploratory nature. This methodological guideline on the implementation of the course work for students majoring 5V070400 - "Computer Engineering and Software" compiled on the basis of SES RK 3.08.328-2006. specialty "The education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Monitoring and evaluation of knowledge in higher education. The main regulations of SES 5.03.006-2006" and discipline’s working curriculum. Knowledge and practical skills gained from the course "Fundamentals of research work", are used by students in the study of other special disciplines as well as the development of course and diploma works.
The approximate structure of the course work with a breakdown of the individual items is proposed in the methodical instructions. A significant attention is paid to documenting of technological processes; basic requirements to the design of the coursework are formulated. The issues of the design of sections and structures of the coursework are discussed. Examples are provided.
Methodical instructions contain recommendations on the implementation of the coursework: introduction, statement of the purpose of the course work on a selected topic, organization of the work, course work defense procedure.
1General regulations
The aim of these methodical instructions is establishment of the general requirements for coursework.
Coursework is the final form of the control of knowledge on the subject “Fundamentals of research work”, if it is provided by the state educational standards and curriculum of the specialty "The education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Monitoring and evaluation of knowledge in higher education. The main regulations of SES 5.03.006-2006" and discipline’s working curriculum.
1.1 The purpose of the implementation of the course work is:
organize, consolidate and expand the theoretical and practical knowledge of technology of design and development of software tools with the use of modern computer technology in a systematic analysis of the problem situation;
development of skills of independent work and the development of design solutions for software, information and technological support of computers and information technologies in various fields;
clarification of student readiness for independent work in modern production.
1.2 Course work is performed on the basis of a deep study of the literature on the specialty (books, textbooks, monographs, periodicals, lectures, magazines, including those in foreign languages, normative literature, etc. ). Topics and assignments for the course work are selected from diploma projects proposed to students.
1.3 KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM
After defense of the coursework the student is graded in accordance with demonstrated knowledge of the defending theme by the score-rating letter system.
Total overall rating of the course "Fundamentals of research" is equal to 100 points. The final test is the protection of the course work, which is estimated at a maximum of 40 points.
There are 2 midterms during the semester. The first midterm is an essay, it is an implementation of the first section of the course work which is graded at 30 points. The second midterm is a software implementation of the coursework’s task, it is also graded at 30 points. The course work is completed if it was graded at 20 points and higher. The final grade for the discipline is determined on a scale (table 1).

Reception and defense of the course work is held during the 2nd midterm (at 15th week) of the semester. A commission from among the teaching staff is created to receive the course work.
1.4 The main text of the course work must disclose the creative concept, justification of the methods of study used, the accepted methods of calculation and the calculations themselves, performed usually with the use of computer technology, the description of the experiments, analysis and conclusions on them, and if necessary, be accompanied by illustrations, graphs, sketches, diagrams, charts, etc.
