The Infinitive

• Інфінітив може виконувати у реченні наступні функції:

5. Означення (A thermometer is an instrument to show the temperature)

• A.M. is a short for the Latin words «ante meridiem» meaning before noon.

• P.M. means «post meridiem» — after noon.

What time is it by your watch? — It’s half past two. It’s two thirty.

• It’s a quarter to three. It’s two forty-five.

What is the time? — It’s twenty (minutes) past five.

What time is it now? — It’s twenty-five (minutes) to six by my watch.

Your natch is 10 minutes slow (fast) I’m afraid.
