Артикль
Артиклі – це слова, що в англійській мові ставляться перед іменниками. Якщо перед іменником стоїть прикметник, то артикль, що відноситься до іменника, ставиться перед прикметником.
1) неозначений a, an
2) означений the
Неозначений артикль a, an має значення „один з” або „якийсь” і показує, що про предмет говориться вперше, а також позначає приналежність цього предмета до якогось класу. Вживається тільки в однині перед іменниками, що можна порахувати.

Зверніть увагу на слова, які починаються з літери h. Якщо це такі слова, як hotel, hostel, то перед ними ставиться артикль a. Якщо це такі слова, як hour, honest, де перша літера не читається, то перед ними ставиться артикль an.

Означений артикль the має значення „певний, даний, цей”. Вживається тоді, коли йдеться про конкретні речі або такі, що існують лише в одному екземплярі.

Артикль не вживається, якщо перед іменником стоїть присвійний або вказівний займенник, інший іменник у присвійному відмінку, кількісний числівник або заперечення "nо" (не «not»).
