Almost everyone is doing something for the soul in his spare time. But according to the statistics, more than 20 % of the population is engaged in collecting. The inhabitants of the planet collect a variety of items. Collecting is an activity which is worth millions, billions, trillions.
Collectors are amazing people they see in the usual object the value, the history, the importance and they can do anything for the new instance in their collection. Collectors usually are quite well off. The most expensive type of collecting is collecting antiques. And the most expensive private collection sold at auction, worth 207.4 million dollars. It was collected works of art.
The most expensive and valuable collection is a collection of patents, it`s cost just can not be estimated, even approximately. The collection consists of four thousand patents. It belongs to Thomas Edison the world- famous American inventor and entrepreneur. And it is interestingly that it's his invention.
The most popular type of collectibles in the world is collecting coins - numismatics. The most developing collecting is a collection of photos. The biggest collection is a collection of street cars. In the collection there are also Leningrad and Moscow trams. The smallest collection belongs to Yerevan master Eduard Ghazaryan. Now in the collection of this master there is the huge array of thumbnails, which can only be examined by a special strong magnifying glass. Eduard Ghazaryan was a violinist by profession. And so he began his collection with the creation of miniature violin by size 15 millimeters, which he produced himself. And then he fashioned rolling stock, which pass freely through the eye of a needle. He even wrote in human hair: "Workers of all countries, unite!"
One of the most complete collections is the collection of playing cards and it is now kept in the Hermitage. The collection includes more than 2,000 decks. This collection is created by General D.P. Ivkov. And the very first collection was a collection of plants. The owner of this collection was Aristotle. He collected and described a large, unique number of plants from many countries.
Collector sometimes just takes a new copy for his collection, and opens a new type, image, condition. So, David Rockefeller, a financial genius, had been engaged in collecting of insects from his childhood. However, his collection is estimated at $ 2.7 billion, and employs about 157,000 species. But the most interesting thing is that he discovered three new species of insects, and the two of them got his name.
And one of the collectors celebrates the birthday of his exhibits. On this occasion, the guests come all in white, and the host serves only white dishes: rice, cheese, potatoes, pasta, ice cream and coconut juice . Why does everything has to be so? Because the American Stuart Himelfarb collects snowballs.
And it is interestingly to know what collections exist, and what do inhabitants of the planet collect?
