Тема: Степени сравнения прилагательных.

Прежде, чем приступить к выполнению задания, повторите следующую тему «Сравнительная и превосходная степени сравнения прилагательных ». За помощью можно обратиться к справочнику английского языка по фонетике и грамматике. Следует обратить внимание на образование степеней сравнения односложных, двусложных и многосложных прилагательных. А также необходимо вспомнить ряд прилагательных, имеющих особую сравнительную и превосходную формы.

Упражнение 1

Преобразуйте прилагательные и наречия, данные в положительной степени, в прилагательные и наречия в сравнительной и превосходной степени.

At the shop

It’s ten o’clock in the morning. Diana Mitchell is in one of the biggest department stores in the city witch only opened a few weeks ago. Many things are bought and sold her every day. Though it’s sill early and the store has just opened, there are a lot of customers near the counters: some are buying things, others are just looking round. Diana wants to buy a pair of shoes and a blouse.

(in the shoe department)

Shop assistant: Hallo, can I help you?

Diana: Yes, I want a pair of shoes.

Shop assistant: What’s your size?

Diana: Thirty-five.

Shop assistant: You have small feet. It won’t be easy to find a suitable pair, I’m afraid. Wait for a minute, please.

(in a few minutes)

Shop assistant: There are nice shoes, don’t you think? Will you try them on? How do you feel?

Diana: They don’t fit. They’re a size too big. Perhaps you can find a different pair? Can you give me a size smaller?

Shop assistant: Just a moment. I’ll have another look. You’re lucky. Here’s a lovely pair. But it’s more expensive.

Diana: That doesn’t matter… It feels more comfortable. I think I’ll take it.

Shop assistant: What would you like also?

Diana: I am looking for an elegant blouse that will go with my brown shoes.

Shop assistant: We have white, black and beige silk blouses.

Diana: Could I see the beige one, please?

Shop assistant: What size do you wear?

Diana: 42

Shop assistant: Here you are. Would you like to try it on?

Diana: Yes, where is the fitting room?

Shop assistant: It’s over there, on the left.

(after a while)

Diana: This blouse suits me very well. How much is it?

Shop assistant: You are lucky, miss, there is a big sale going on now. It’s only

£ 10.99.

Diana: I’ll take it and my shoes. How much is it?

Shop assistant: All together it costs £ 75.99.

Diana: Where do I pay?

Shop assistant: Over there at the cash-desk.

(after paying the bill)

Shop assistant: Here are your purchases. The check is inside. Have a nice day, good-bye.

Diana: Thank you.

Diana looks at her watch and sees that it is rather late, so she quickly leaves the store and hurries home.
