    1. Read and translate the text: travelling by air

Nowadays people who go on business mostly travel by air, as it is the fastest means of travelling.

If you travel by air you should arrive at the airport two hours before departure time. First you go to the check-in desk where they weigh your luggage. Usually you are permitted 20 kilos, but if your bags weigh more, you have to pay excess baggage. The airline representative checks your ticket and gives you a boarding card for the plane with your seat number on it. You can ask the clerk to have a seat on an aisle or by the window. Then you go through customs and passport control to the departure lounge. About half an hour before take-off the boarding is announced and you have to go to the gates indicated in your boarding card.

When you board the plane, you take your seat and fasten your seat-belt. As a rule during the flight the flight assistant serves you drinks and meals. Besides, newspapers and magazines are offered to the passengers.

When the plane lands and stops, you get off the plane and go to the baggage claim where you collect your luggage. Then you go through customs. The customs officers may ask you to show your luggage to them. Usually articles for personal use and wear and also gifts are not liable to duty. If you are carrying much currency you should declare it.
