Subdepartment of Western Culture
The centre of study of culture was founded in January 1998 by united effort of the Department of Ethics and Aesthetics and the Department of Philosophy of Culture and Cultural Studies. The work of this centre includes scientific activity (conferences, symposia, work-shops), which is devoted to current problems of culture. It also organises various cultural events such as festivals, concerts, and theatrical performances.
The students of Subdepartment are affiliated with the Chair of Philosophy of Culture and Cultural Studies. This Chair headed by Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Professor Solonin, is the largest at the Faculty, the stuff consisting of nearly 30 professors. The Chair also maintains international relations with Wroclaw University, Higher Pedagogical School of Zeszów (Poland), Heidelberg University and Tübingen University (Germany).
