Text 3. Job Interview.

When you want to apply for a position in a company, you should prepare to be interviewed by an officer of the company. Before going there, write in a piece of paper your name, the date of your birthday, your current school or job, the name of the high school or university you attended, your home town, your marital status (marital state G. B.), children, your hobbies, your present occupation. If you can manage, get the information about the company you would like to join. For example, if you are going to have an interview at an international airline, you will make a better impression if you are familiar with the articles or prospects presenting the airline activity and its representatives. If you are well informed your confidence is up. You should be familiar with English / American terminology in your field. And you shouldn’t be nervous in an upcoming interview. Your best guide is your own common sense. Rely on it!

There are, however, some basic rules common to most interview:

  • When greeting the representative of the company, wait until he moves to shake hands.

  • You should also wait until he offers you a seat.

  • During the interview you should avoid discussing the topics about your former employers or fellow workers. Don’t criticize them.

  • Don’t discuss your personal, domestic or financial problems unless you are specially asked about them.
