5. Активизация грамматики (Present Simple Tense).
Время Present Simple Tense употребляется для обозначения обычных, регулярно повторяющихся
действий в настоящее время, но которые не привязаны к моменту речи.
Английский глагол во временной форме Present Simple почти всегда совпадает со своей основной
формой без частицы to. В 3-ем лице единственном числе к ней прибавляется окончание -s:
I decorate He decorates
I don’t decorate He doesn’t decorate

Teacher: Who can tell us about Christmas?
P1: I can. Christmas Day is celebrated on the 25th of December. On this day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is a family holiday. Traditionally all relatives and friends give each other presents. People decorate a Christmas tree with toys, coloured balls and lights. Children put their stockings near their beds, hoping that Santa Claus will fill them with presents. Children often write letters to him with their wishes. The traditional food is turkey, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding made of fruit. People go to the church. They dance and sing Christmas carols.
Teacher: Who can tell us about New Year’s Day?
P2. I can. New Year’s Day is celebrated on the 1st of January. In every home there is a New Year tree with lights and decorations. Children always wait for Father Christmas to come and give them a present. People sing songs and dance. In Britain not all people celebrate New Year. (New Year’s Day is not so popular). People have a New Year party. There is a funny tradition connected with the New Year: The First Foot. This is the first visitor to enter a house on New Year's morning. The First Foot must be a man. He must carry food, drink and coal into the house.
Teacher: Who can describe Halloween?
P3. I can. Halloween is celebrated on the 31st of October. It is very funny and interesting holiday. People do funny pumpkins and tell strange and horrible stories. It is a time for Halloween parties. People dress up as demons, ghosts, witches, goblins or skeletons. During the holiday there is a parade of costumes. Children follow the custom called Trick or Treat. They dress up in costumes and go from door to door where they knock on the door, or ring the doorbell, and yell 'Trick or treat!'Most people give the children a “treat”: a sweet or chocolate. But some people don’t. And children play a trick on them.
Teacher: Tell us about St. Valentine's Day.
P4: St. Valentine's Day is celebrated on the 14th of February. It is a holiday of friendship, love and romance. It is a religious holiday. People send flowers, chocolate and "valentines" to sweethearts, friends and relatives. Valentines are special greeting cards. They are often coloured red, have pictures of cupids and hearts. Valentine’s Day is a happy day. You can sign St. Valentine card “Your Secret Admirer”
Teacher: Please, who will tell us about Easter and its traditions?
P5: I will. Easter comes in spring (in March or April). It is a religious celebration and lasts for a week. The young and the old, the rich and the poor, men and women and people of all races celebrate Easter. This holiday dedicates to Jesus Christ resurrection.

Symbols of Easter: Bread, the Cross, Easter Eggs, wine, rabbits and chicks, hot cross bun, the white lily, Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunt, egg rolling, Easter dinner, Easter egg tree, Easter parade.
Giving gifts is a pleasant tradition. Anything that reminds you of Easter can be presented. Today the most popular gifts are those made of chocolate.
