IV. Oral Practice.

Exercise 11. Get ready to answer the following questions.

1. What specialists does the Department of Technology and Design train?

2. What has a great perspective of development nowadays?

3. Why are these specialists in great demand?

4. What diplomas do the graduates get?

5. What are they by profession?

6. Where do young specialists work?

Exercise 12. Using information from Text A speak on:

1). Perspectives of young specialists;

2). Various specializations;

3). Qualification of specialists in:

  • “Processing, Standardization and Certification of Light Industry Products”;

  • “Certification of Raw Materials of Light Industry”;

  • “Storage and Realization of Raw Materials”;

  • “Safety Labour at Processing Enterprises”.

4). Graduates assigning;

5). Theoretical and practical foundation.

Exercise 13. Situations.

1). You are meeting a friend who has just graduated from Kherson State Technical University. Ask him:

- what faculty he has completed;

- what diploma he has been awarded;

- what qualification he has got;

- what theoretical and practical base he has;

- if he has a great variety of perspectives;

- if he has got any assignment.

2). You are meeting your schoolmate. You have just got the Diploma on “Processing, Standardization and Certification of Light Industry Products”. Tell him about your qualification of an expert-auditor and your functions.

3). You are meeting your old friend. You have just got the Diploma on “Certification of Raw Materials of Light Industry”. Tell him about your functions of an engineer at a flax-hemp plant.

4). You are meeting your cousin. You have just got the Diploma on “Storage and Realization of Raw Materials” and you are going to take a post graduate course. Tell your relative about your perspectives.

5). You are meeting your classmate. You have just got the Diploma on “Safety Labour of Processing Enterprises”. Tell him about your possible places of work and your functions as an engineer in Safety Labour and Safety Technics.

Exercise 14. Situation “What is your occupation?”.

a). You are meeting a friend. You have not seen him for a certain time. Ask him:

- If he works or study;

- What he does;

- Where he works;

- If he likes his job;

- What work his sister does;

- What she is by profession;

- What his brother’s occupation is;

- What his brother is by trade;

- If he has a new job.

b). You are meeting a friend you have not seen for a long time. Answer his questions about your and your family members’ occupation. Use these word-combinations:

- to study a t University;

- to work in a factory;

- to work in an office;

- to work in a hospital;

- to work in a school;

- to work for a newspaper;

- to work for IBM;

- to be an engineer (doctor, programmer, teacher, journalist, manager, pilot, lawyer) by profession;

- to be a mechanic (carpenter, secretary, fire fighter, footballer, photographer) by trade.

Exercise 15. Listen and match the questions and answers.
