HELEN BEATRIX POTTER

(1866-1943)

Беатрис Поттер родилась в Дондоне, в семье бо­

гатых родителей. В школу она не ходила, пото­

му что занималась с гувернанткой. У Беатрис

был младший брат Берт, который почти все вре­

мя проводил в школе. Беатрис очень скучала до­

ма одна, поэтому девочке покупали очень много домашних животных, с которыми она играла,

за которыми ухаживала и которых рисовала с на­

туры.

Первая сказка Б.Поттер «The Tale of Peter Rabbit» (1902) была рассказана в письме одному больному мальчику. С тех пор она начала писать сказки о животных. Все ее сказки - это наблюде­

ния над самыми разными животными, почти все

они написаны в одинаковой манере и начинаются

со слов: «The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin» (1903), «The Bad Mice» (1904), «The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse»

(1919); последняя сказка была напечатана уже после смерти писательницы в 1955 г. Называлась

она «The Tale of the Faithful Dove».

One story is about аbrave rabbit. His пате is Peter Push. Не lives with his mother Mrs. Push and three little sisters. The little rabbits have got по father because he was killed Ьу Мг. McGregor. Everybody is afraid о! Мг. McGregor but not Peter Push.

This little rabbit is very curious. Не wants to know what is in the kitchengarden о! Мг. McGregor. Peter goes to the kitchengarden and eats much саЬ­ bage and carrot. Soon Мг. McGregor sees Peter Push,

runs after him and nearly catches Peter. Little Rabbit loses his shoes and а jacket but runs away from Mr. McGregor. Peter comes home without his clothes. Soon he has got а terrible stomachache because he has eaten much in the kitchen garden. And Mrs. Push punishes him.
