Note 1. Обратите внимание на то, что притяжательные местоимения в простой форме употребляются с последующим существительным, в то время как их абсолютная форма существительного не требует.

E.g. This is my computer, that computer is his.

Our house is small, theirs is very large.

Note 2. Запомните выражения:

E.g. Tom was with a friend of his at the party.

Are those people friend of yours.

Note 3. Возвратное местоимение с предлогом “by” имеет значение ”alone”.

E.g. I went on holiday by myself.

He lives in this house by himself.

Many people live by themselves.

PS each other one another обозначает «друг друга», «друг другу» и т.д..

Note 1. Неопределенные местоимение some и его производные употребляются в утвердительных предложениях.

E.g. I’m going to buy some clothes.

There’s some ice in the fridge.

Неопределенное местоимение any употребляется в вопросительных и отрицательных предложениях.

E.g. Is there any ice in the fridge?

Do you need any help?

We didn’t do any exercises.

Note 2. Если в вопросительном предложении выражается просьба или предложение, употребляйте местоимение some.

E.g. Would you like some tea? (предложение)

Can you lend me some money? (просьба)

Note 3. Если местоимение any или его производные имеют значение «любой», их можно употреблять в утвердительных предложениях.

E.g. Any student knows that the examination time is twice a year.

Note 4. Some, any и no употребляются, как правило с последующим существительным, в то время как их производные заменяют его.

E.g. I want to wash my hair. Is there any shampoo?

I bought some cheese but I didn’t buy any bread.

We’ve got no money now.

She said something to me but I didn’t understand anything.

She said nothing.

How much money have you got? – None.

Note 5. not any = no

not + anybody = nobody (no one)

not + anything = nothing

E.g. There are not any car in the car park. = There are no cars in the car

park.

There isn’t anybody in the room. = There is nobody in the room.

Note 6. Местоимения some и any могут употребляться без существительного для того, чтобы избежать повторения.

E.g. I didn’t take any pictures, but Ann took some.

Where’s your luggage?” – “I haven’t got any.”
