Methodological recommendations for magistracy students’ self studying

Besides a studying in the class a subject course plan consists of magistracy students’ self studying to form a cognitive activity of magistracy students, skills and practice of working with educational materials, specifying and extending of knowledge, rising of organizational level.

During the process of self studying magistracy students have to achieve such skills and practice as:

• Organization of own studying activity;

• Working in a library with card-files;

• Working with educational, educational and methodical, scientific, scientific and popular literature;

• Literary sources noting down;

• Working with informational literature;

• Working with statistics.

Each magistracy student has to know how to organize rationally his own educational activity, make a working plan. It’s necessary to consider the practical aspect and positive results of plan’s fulfilment.

To achieve a success the magistracy student has to work in a library a lot. It’s necessary to understand the rules of alphabetical and topical catalogues making, be able to find quickly necessary material, know the principles of bibliographical coding. For successful work with literature the magistracy student has to make his own bibliography with cards for certain books, articles. To work in the libraries in Kyiv the magistracy student has to know its structure, department specialization, be aware of usage different card files, correct filling in forms.

Selected literature for self studying can be different as in a size of scientific data, as in information. It’s necessary to get certain material for work (chapters, headings, subheadings) and to assort according to importance (one for concrete studying, one for reading). A reading process has to be slow, thoughtful. Unknown questions must be discussed with additional information to understand author’s thoughts. Meaning of unknown notions should be defined with vocabularies, encyclopedias or specialized data books. While working with literature it is useful to make notes of important thoughts, notions, expressions with admitting of their author’s name, source, paragraph and page. To learn material effectively, to develop creativity it is necessary to make a summary of main context of read literature.

The notes have to be short, concrete and written. Classical definitions, thoughts, sayings should be noted with references to the author, source and page. While noting down it is necessary to make logical links of textual parts. It’s useful to underline the most important theoretical categories, definitions, conclusions, etc. Systematical noting of some materials improves mind activity, ability to make own thoughts in a short form, promotes ability to learn material quickly.

To have a complex view about subject course the magistracy student has to use additional literature: encyclopedia and vocabulary, specific reference book.

Future specialist should be good at usage of personal computer. Work with Internet materials gives opportunity to get the best information from different life spheres of our country and the world.

The course studying is connected with forming schemes, diagrams, tables and their further analysis. The schemes formed by the magistracy students should be visual, rich in content, logically substantiated. It is necessary to tabulate large amount of figure economic, social or political information. Thanks to this the figures are arranged and easier for perception.
