13 My friend

“A friend in need is a friend indeed” they say. I fully agree with it. Some people say that it is very good to have a lot of friends. The are fond of chatting with each other. Others say that it is good when you have one and a real friend. As for me, I think that you must have one friend. I mean, you can chat with a lot of people, but a real friend can be only one. I have got a friend. His/Her name is … . His/Her surname is … . My friend is a very good boy/girl. He/She is so clever, friendly, helpful and kind. He/She is a teenager. … is strong/slim, well-built, tall/short and nice. My friend is a boy/girl with dark/blond/fair hair. His/Her nose is not big, and her/his eyes are dark/blue/grey. There are some special features, for example, his/her freckles which are all over the face. We are good friends. We have the same interests. We are fond of hiking. Last year we went to an adventure camp. We enjoyed it very much. We learned how to put up tents, build fires, make tree houses and survive in the forest. There are a lot of good character qualities, but the most important, I think, is kindness. I can always rely on my friend.

Russian young people like to read teenage magazines. Two of the most popular magazines for girls are «Cool Girl» and «Oops». They have glossy, colourful covers and include beauty and fashion, celebrity gossip, real life stories, horoscopes, quizzes and problem pages. Boys usually don't like these magazines. They are fond of reading, «Хулиган». Some boys usually buy magazines to find the information about the computers, for example «PC games». Teenage magazines usually contain a lot of language that only teenagers use, for example «celeb» instead of «celebrity», «fave» instead of «favourite». This attracts the teenagers because it is easier to understand. As for me, I like to read teenage magazines very much. I usually buy «Cool» or «Cool girl». «Cool» is about music. The circulation of the magazine makes 220 thousand copies. The editor-in-chief is Sergey Vereikin. I buy it if I want to get the information about the stars of show business. «Cool girl» is a very interesting teenage magazine too. There is a problem page. You can find solutions to problems you don't feel comfortable discussing with your parents. The problem pages are usually very popular. I think teens buy magazines for the problem pages.
