Applying for a job

Getting a job begins with locating and applying for jobs that will advance the carrier plans. You should convince employers that you are the best applicant for their job openings. Therefore, you should know how to contact employers, how to complete application forms, and how to make a good impression in job interviews. It is also important to know how to write a good resume, or summary of your background and qualifications.

The goal of a resume is to get you an interview. It should be neat, well organized and easy to read. Begin your resume with your name, address, phone number and the kind of job you are seeking. Then list your work experiences. Do not forget to list the information about your education (degrees, diplomas, certificates and honors you received). Many employers ask for personal references.

It is very important to change your resume every time you send it to a different company having in mind the company's special features.

Most employers ask job applicants to fill out an application form. Such forms help employers find out about your qualifications. Many forms request information about your military experience, health and hobbies.

Trade exhibitions

Our country stands for the development of trade with all countries. We arrange various fairs and exhibitions both in our country and abroad. Our fairs & exhibitions are very popular with the people abroad. They show our great achievements in science, industry, agriculture and other fields of our national economy. These fairs and exhibitions do a lot to establish contacts and to promote trade.

Last month one of the biggest international exhibitions of chemical machinery and equipment was held. Many foreign firms took part in it as they were interested in introducing their goods to new markets. The efficient staff of stand-attendants, guides and interpreters did their best to make the exhibition a success. Colourful leaflets helped to advertise the goods. The exhibition was crowded with visitors from opening to closing time. It was visited by a lot of foreign businessmen as well. The visitors were greatly impressed by the exhibition. As a result new business contacts were established and a lot of contracts were signed.

British economy

The traditional economic strength of Britain, as a pioneer in the industrial revolution, has been manufacturing (iron and steel engineering, textiles, chemicals, food products and consumer goods).

Britain lives by industry and trade. It is a highly developed industrial country, known as one of the largest producers and exporters of machinery, electronics, textile, aircraft and navigation equipment.

It is the world’s third largest trading nation. It sells motor-cars, chemicals, cotton and woolen fabrics, electrical machinery, glass ware and leather goods.

Britain doesn't produce enough food for its people. Much is imported from other countries. Sheep-farming, cattle-farming, dairy-fanning are important branches of the British economy. The main crops grown there are wheat, barley, oats and potatoes. Sea fishing is important in Scotland and in the north-east of England.

AT THE HOTEL

When people travel on business or for pleasure, they have to think of accommodation. As a rule they telephone the hotel to reserve a room in advance. There are different kinds of rooms: single, double and de luxe. When you arrive at the hotel, you come up to the receptionist. He asks you to fill in a registration card. The porter helps you with the luggage. You unlock the door and unpack the suitcase.

You can call the room service for dinner. Different meals are served at hotels. A continental breakfast usually consists of coffee and bread. You may take a bun, a roll, a croissant or bread and butter and cheese. As to drinks, you may enjoy some juice, coffee, tea, milk or chocolate. Some people prefer full breakfast with porridge, cornflakes, eggs and ham or bacon.

The services offered to you at hotels make you enjoy every minute of your staying there.
