Ukraine tourism
What we have in Ukraine?
According to State Agency of Ukraine for Tourism and Resorts, Our main strategic goal is the creation of a powerful national tourism industry capable of producing a competitive tourism product. It should be emphasized that Ukraine inherited the powerful system of sustaining mass tourism and health treatment — more than four and a half thousand hotels, tourist complexes, health resorts.
Furthermore, the construction of a competitive National Tourism Product involves an efficiently coordinated, tourism friendly transportation system, a multitude of cafes and restaurants, effective maintenance and sanitation of beaches and parks, restoration of historical landmarks and monuments, functioning museums, prolific souvenir production. A new system of additional services for the tourists — yacht clubs, golf courses, aqua-parks, and entertainment centres — should be created.
Tourism activity in Ukraine is regulated by the Law on Tourism and the State Program of Tourism Development, adopted in 1997.
An integral part of state policy in regards to tourism is Ukraine’s international integration (especially in the direction of Europe).
Real Situation overview:
The World Economic Forum had the Ukraine very low down the listing for competitiveness in tourism. Pricing and infrastructure in the industry is considered to be weak Ukraine's percentage of GDP(Gross Domestic Product) is very small compared to its neighbours, for example Bulgaria. It is considered that a large portion of revenue from tourism arrives with the business traveller. There are always reasons for everything and the Ukraine is no exception. Historical and contemporary issues have contributed to this position so positioning the country behind its regional neighbours. It has very little global profile with poorly developed domestic facilities hindering progress.
At the same 2008 was declared as the Year of Tourism and Resorts promising financial assistance and promoting the implementation of key policies for the development of tourism within the Ukraine. The presedent also pledged to promote the image of Ukraine to all countries of the world.
In conclusion I want to say that our country itself has bountiful natural assets with the Carpathians in the west and the steppes to the east; fulfilling a panoramic delight of land, sea and river. And successful development of tourism depends to Government involvement in Tourism policy making, specifically what strategy the government will choose, what problems at first decide to solve.
Thank you for listening. Does anyone have any questions?
