Передмова
Навчально-методичний посібник «Communication in academic and professional spheres» розрахований призначений для студентів першого курсу з рівнем володіння мовою В1 (відповідно до ЗЄР). Зміст посібника є професійно зорієнтованим і містить матеріал, пов'язаний із навчанням та спеціалізацією студентів математичних спеціальностей вищих навчальних закладів. Мета посібника – розвинути комунікативні навички у студентів-математиків, необхідних у різноманітних навчальних та професійних ситуаціях.
Зміст посібника організовано таким шляхом, щоб забезпечити вивчення та закріплення матеріалу за допомогою текстів зосереджених на основних навчальних темах та базової інформації з математики, схем «mind-map» та різноманітних практичних завдань у першої та другої частинах. Крім того посібник надає можливість розвивати вміння спілкуватися і вміння робити презентації у частині третій на базі матеріалу, знайденого як в сучасних навчальних підручниках так і в електронному ресурсі енциклопедії “WIKIPEDIA” стосовно походження знаків, символів та областей математики; стосовно їх сприйняття в різних культурах і відображення у мистецтві; стосовно сучасного розвитку математики. Відеоматеріал у частині чотвертій – мультфільм «When did Mathematics begin» дає можливість підвищити інтерес до предмета, а також сприяє розвитку навичок аудіювання.
Тематика завдань та рекомендації до проведення усної презентації у
першому додатку допомагають у творчій, самостійній роботі студента і підвищують ефективність його виступу перед студентською аудиторією.
Інший додаток треба використовувати як довідковий матеріал як при читані та обговорені навчальних текстів, так і при проведенні презентацій.
Навчальний матеріал супроводжують ілюстрації, зокрема, у темах про престижні нагороди у галузі математики, а також схеми – «карти пам’яті», які допомагають перейти від механічного запам’ятовування до спонтаного продукування висловлювань з теми.
Матеріал, представлений у посібнику, має високий ступінь інформативності і покликаний підвищити мотивацію у вивченні дисципліни «Іноземна мова» (Англійська мова) у студентів математичних спеціальностей.
