Infinitive/Gerund

Ex. 2. Put in the verbs in brackets in the Gerund or the to-infinitive. Example: They go on _______ (read) the book. Answer: They go on reading the book.

Ex. 1. Decide whether the sentences contain a Gerund or a Progressive.

1. He likes reading books.

7. Instead of reading books Henry went to bed.

8. Do you like reading books?

Ex. 2. Complete the sentences with the gerund form of the verbs in parentheses.

Ex. 3. HINT:  The present participle (ing ending) shows an ongoing condition or feeling and describes the person or thing that causes the reaction.  (A frightening movie.  The movie causes the fright.)  Use the past participle (-ed, -en, -d, -t, or –n) to describe the receiver of a feeling or condition or shows completion.  (A frightened child.  The child received the fright from something.)  Choose your word.  The base form of the word is given.

1. They were (confuse) by all the choices on the menu.

2. Clarise is (disappoint) by the season's new television shows.

3. The meal was (satisfy).

4. Steve was (fascinate) with his new motorcycle.

5. Last night's play was (fascinate).
