Lesson 17 the life in the 21stcentury
We've entered a new era which is the twenty-first century. Of course, it's exciting and we are trying to predict what our life will be like in future. I'm sure it will certainly become better.
The automatization of some processes in our life will spread. Maybe some new machines designed to replace the hand labour will appear and very soon we could rid of some work that we have to do every day. So the robots will do all the dangerous and dirty work instead of us and our daily life will become easier. When everything is automated, we'll be able to do more creative work. We'll be able to type up the homework by talking to a small gadget that understands the human voice. Scientists will find solutions to our urgent problems (maybe with the help of robots). People will stop dying from cancer and AIDS and will live up to 150 years old. There will be no famine on our planet and no hungry children anymore. Our cities will become cleaner, greener and safer. We'll drive electric cars and live in the houses with lots of plants and special air-cleaning gadgets. The atmospheric pollution will be stopped and our planet will be saved. There will be no wars, no criminals and no terrorists anymore. People will learn to live in peace and, who knows, maybe one day we will be able to spend our holidays on Mars.
I'm optimistic about the future. After all we are becoming wiser. The superpowers become more peaceful and the governments of the European countries are walking up to the Green issues...
Anyway, it's up to us to look after our planet and try to make it better.
