Text 31 Eating in a Restaurant
Eating out in restaurants makes life easier and more fun. To have a good experience in a restaurant, you must feel at ease. There are a wide variety of restaurants offering many kinds of food. So read the text and learn the useful information. Here are some tips to help you:
-
Pick the type of restaurant you want.
-
Dine in different kinds of restaurants.
Pick the type of restaurant you want.
What kind of dining experience do you want? Do you want do you want something fast and inexpensive – like a hamburger or a pizza? Do you want a wonderful dinner in a beautiful setting? Here are some of different kinds of restaurants you have to choose from:
-
Fast-food restaurant or delicatessen. These serve food that is prepared quickly and easily. Sometimes, the food is already prepared and ready to be served to you. You order, pay for, and pick up your food at a counter. You can get your food to go, or you can sit down in the formal dining room.
-
Cafeteria. In cafeterias, the food is already prepared and ready to be served. You simply pick what you want to eat and then take it to a table in the dining room. You pay the cashier for your food as you leave the cafeteria.
-
Cafe, diner, or restaurant. In these dining places, you sit at a counter, at a table, or in a both. A waiter or waitress comes by to take your food order and serves it to you. He or she also gives you your bill, which you pay to the cashier on your way out of the restaurant.
However, some restaurants are different in a few important ways: Food and drink are more expensive than at other restaurants. You might need to make a reservation to eat there. And you pay your bill to the waiter or waitress, who takes it to the cashier for you and brings back your change.
After you know the kind of restaurant you want to eat at, you must choose a restaurant that is right for you:
-
Explore the restaurants near your home. Walk in, look around, and decide if you want to stay. You don’t have to eat there just because you walk in. If the restaurant. Ask your friend all about the restaurant before you go, such as how expensive it is, whether the dress is formal or informal, and where it is located.
-
Look in the yellow pages of the telephone book under “Restaurants.” You’ll find them listed alphabetically, but in larger cities they may also be grouped by the type of food they serve. So if you’re looking for Mexican food, you can find all the Mexican restaurants in a single list.
-
Read restaurant reviews in the newspaper or in the city or state magazines use stars to show the quality of the restaurant. One star is not very good, but four or five stars means the restaurant is one of the best.
