My future profession

Choosing your future profession is a difficult choice, but an important one; nobody else can make it for you.

I want to tell you about my plans for the future. I would like to work with people rather than with figures and numbers. I want to travel much and see other places and meet different people. One of the opportunities for this is to work for a foreign enterprise in Russia or work abroad for a big national company. You also travel much if you work for the travel agency. As far as I know, this kind of job is well paid.

Of course, it is quite difficult to qualify for this job. You need a very good educational level and good command of foreign language, computer skills and, finally, some experience.

My school gave me a very good background knowledge. But we didn’t have many practical courses. The only opportunity to gain some experience is to work somewhere during the summer vocation.

I also think that if your level of English is not sufficient after finishing the secondary school it is necessary to have extra classes to improve your command of the language.

One more factor which really helps to have good language skills is the communication with native speakers. And of course, reading books in English helps a lot. It is especially useful to read books on marketing, business, economics and management in the original. When one knows the special vocabulary of the subject, it will be much easier to communicate with colleagues from other countries.

Firms need specialists in management, law, accounting and marketing. Employers need young and energetic employees. Three is no legal enterprise which wants to hire lazy employees who have no computer skills and have 10 tea, coffee or smoke breaks a day.

Choosing the career

I think the best way to prepare myself for the future job is to get a good education. I have been studying English for 8 years. I am good at Information Technology and I am interested in History, Geography and Literature.

It is also to be healthy to be able to face difficulties and changes. So I go to the gym twice a week.

There are a lot of interesting and useful professions. It was difficult to make up mind to choose one of the hundreds of jobs to which I might be better suited. I am sure I must like my future profession and cope with my job to become wealthy and independent. The chance of promotion is very important for me.

I like travelling and I have been to some foreign countries such as Finland, Egypt, Turkey, Italy. We often stayed in hotels and I liked observing the work of receptionist, a chambermaid, a concierge and bellboy.

Now the hospitality is fast-growing industry and I hope, I will be able to find the job here in Saint-Petersburg. There is a variety of jobs in the hotel such as a hotel manager, a marketing manager, a receptionist, a bar tender, a waiter or a porter.

Working in the hotel you may get free food, some free holidays. Besides, there is a paid sick leave. Moreover, you are sometimes provided with free or cheap accommodation and, of course, you get job satisfaction.

But also I am aware of some disadvantages of working in the hotel. First of all it is a hard job, especially in peak season. Secondly the working hours are long and unsociable as you are expected to work at weekends. And at last dealing with guests is not an easy task.

So, to be successful in every sphere you should be creative, patient, polite, friendly, helpful and responsible.

I can say that I am ready to cope with all difficulties as I am hardworking, reliable, honest and disciplined.
