The Ufa State Aircraft Technical University

Hello again! Now let me tell you about the Ufa State Aircraft Technical University. I am really glad that I study here. It is one of the finest country’s higher educational institutions. Many famous people have graduated from my University. Studying at our University gives a solid background in all spheres of knowledge and prepares for practical work.

The Ufa State Aircraft Technical University or USATU in short is in the centre of our city in Karl Marx Street. It occupies several modern buildings made of brick, concrete and glass. Our University was founded in 1932 in Rybinsk, during the World War II it was moved to Ufa.

Now it is the centre of teaching and research in the field of aircraft engineering in the Urals, the biggest higher educational establishment in our republic. It trains specialists in many key fields of modern industrial production. The course of study lasts five years. The students study at two departments comprising 7 faculties. The University gives training in a large number of specialities in its faculties of aircraft technology, aircraft engines, aircraft instruments design, informatics and robotics and of economics. At present about 10 000 students are trained at our University. For most of the students tuition is free as in all higher schools of our country. A great majority of day-time students receive state scholarship, many of them are provided with hostel accommodation. Upon graduation each student gets a job. There are also a lot of graduate students. They conduct independent research work.

At our University there are 40 chairs, the academic staff of the chairs consists of about 600 scholars, teachers and lectures. Among them there are many Candidates and Doctors of Science, Professors and Associate Professors. Many of them combine teaching and scientific research. Our graduates take a postgraduate course to get the Candidate of Science degree. Specialists having long-term practical experience in their work may enter refresher courses to upgrade, improve and refresh their knowledge.

The University disposes of numerous specially equipped tutorial rooms, lecture halls and studies. The laboratories of the University have up-to-date apparatuses with data processing and computing facilities and there students can carry on lab works and conduct various experiments. A well-stocked library with reading halls, canteens, well-appointed hostels are at the students’ disposal. Besides, the students have all facilities for recreation and sports activities which include sport halls and playgrounds, students club, amateur art circles, etc.

Thus, our University having at its disposal a highly-qualified academic staff and good educational and research facilities plays a leading part among the Aircraft Institutes of our country.
