EATING IN AND EATING OUT

Before you listen

The recordings in this unit feature speakers talking about eating out in restraints and eating at home. Compare your experiences with those of the speakers.

Voc

Cuisine (n) –the cuisine of the country or district is the style of cooking that is characteristic of that place.

Pit (n) – a pit is a large hole

Coal (n) -- coal is a hard black substance that is extracted from the ground and burned as fuel

Extractor fan (n)– an extractor or extractor fan is a device that is fixed to a window or a wall to draw smells, steam or hot air out of a room

Ceiling (n) – a ceiling is the horizontal surface that forms the top part of a roof inside a room

Self-conscious (adj) – someone who is self-conscious is really embarrassed and nervous because they feel that others are looking at them and judging them

In this recording, Catherine, who is from London, talks about her experience of eating out in Seoul in South Korea.
