Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia
In 1898 Moscow industrial School was founded. It was a new type of an educational institution at that time. In 1902, when the construction of the specially designed building was completed, the industrial School moved to Miusskaya Square. The Mendeleev institute was founded in 1920 on the basis of Moscow Industrial School. Since that time it has grown into a famous university. There are 13 faculties and colleges: Higher College of Chemical Engineering, International College of Composite Materials, RusAS (Russian Academy Of Science) Higher Chemical College and International Higher College of Information Computer Systems. About 8000 students (Including foreign) and 1000 Postgraduates and trainees are studying at the Mendeleev University now. Its graduates are outstanding scientists, politicians, leaders of research centres and industrial enterprises, famous businessmen, showmen and bankers.
50 Members and Associate Members of the Russian Academy of Science and 115professors work at the Mendeleev University. It is acknowledged as an international centre of chemistry and chemical technology. Its main recent scientific developments are new environmentally safe chemical processes, composite and engineering materials based on polymers and silicates and materials applicable in various branches of science and industry.
There are day department students and night-class students. They study mathematics, structure of matter, general chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, philosophy, history, foreign languages and other subjects.

Chemistry is the science which deals with materials, their properties and the transformation they undergo. So chemistry is the study of the composition and properties of matter, their changes and the energy changes which accompany them. It is concerned with the nature of fire and the structure of water, it deals with colors, crystals structure, with physical properties and chemical reactivity.
Chemistry is one of the fundamental sciences. It plays an important part in the development of biochemistry, physics, geology and many other fields of science.
Chemistry’s origin goes back to ancient times. Its development inseparable connected with people’s activity. But her true development started in the XVI century, and heyday had to them idle and the end of 19th century.
Mary great scientists devoted their life to the development of chemistry, among them many Russian chemists, who made a great contribution to the world science, such as outstanding Lomonosov, Mendeleyev, Butlerov, Semenov…
Everyone now understands the importance of chemistry. The future of chemistry is practically unlimited. The development of chemical in dusty will make if possible to create many new goods, and machines, plastics and polymers, it will help to understand many new phenomena.
