Методичні вказівки призначено для студентів, які вивчають економіку, міжнародну економіку, фінанси, облік і аудит, банківську справу, менеджмент, маркетинг, товарознавство та експертизу в митній справі, економічну статистику тощо. Основна мета видання – ознайомити студентів з професійною термінологією, навчити їх перекладати та реферувати тексти за фахом, виробити навички професійно спрямованого усного мовлення у сфері фінансово-економічної діяльності. Добірка вправ дозволяє здійснювати тематичний тренінг, враховуючи мотивацію навчання.

Module 1 Career Opportunities lesson 1

1. Read the dialogue and act it out:

At the University Admittance Board

We are in Lutsk State Technical University. There are some young people at the Admittance Board. They are having a talk with its Secretary.

S: Welcome to our University. It is one of the leading higher educational establishments in Ukraine. A lot of highly-qualified specialists train students for our national economy and industry.

A: First I would like to know how many and what faculties are there at the University?

S: There are six faculties. We train students in six directions:

B: My friend and I are interested in Finance, precisely in Accounting and Audit. My friend’s mother is an auditor and advises us to take her way.

S: So, you can choose the Accounting and Finance faculty. Here is our brochure, you can have information about all specialities trained at this faculty and the admittance terms and conditions.

B: Thank you. As far as I know I must pass the entrance examinations to be admitted. And what about my friend? He is going to sign a contract with the University.

S: Oh, he must pass the entrance examinations too. The tuition at the University is free of charge for the majority of students. But for those who are going to sign a contract with the University it is chargeable.

M: My question is about accommodation facilities. You see, I’m out-of-towner and have no relatives here in Lutsk.

S: Oh, our University provides its students with accommodation in two hostels and food in the canteens at reasonable prices. And I cannot help mentioning the University library. We have a large book-stock. There are some reading halls where students can study. We have good gymnasiums, stadium for those who go in for sports and a swimming pool. So, if you don’t have any questions, you may fill in these application forms.

M: Thank you very much. It’s so kind of you to help us. Good bye.

S: Not at all. Good luck to you all and good bye.
