Cargo Operations - Responsibilities
Chief Officer is responsible for:
•Calculation of cargo quantity & preparation of cargo documentation
•Checking all compartments daily & recording the sounding in Log Book.
•Monitoring of toxic gases/vapour concentration in ship’s compartments.
•Maintaining the records required in conjunction with C/E as required.
•Ballast water management practices and record keeping.
•Preparing cargo spaces for next cargo / grade change.
•Ensuring all cargo is loaded correctly & as per plan & vessel stability

Duty Deck Officer is responsible to C/O for:
•Assisting in all cargo, ballast and cargo spaces preparation.
•Monitoring of cargo and ballast operations as instructed by the C/O.
•Ensuring that a proper deck and security watch is maintained.
•Ensuring that the vessel remains securely moored at all times.
•Maintaining logs & records for all cargo related operations.
