3. Опишите процедуру приема лоцмана, швартовку, постановку на якорь Вашего судна.

Pilotage - this is one of the most important and responsible operations on the vessel. Officer of the watch to receive the pilot must prepare the flags, make the necessary calculations and complete pilotage card, check the equipment of pilot ladder, to make a necessary check of bridge equipment and fill in the appropriate check lists.

All this staff on our ship did the Third Mate, and during that time I with deck crew prepared the pilot ladder. On board the ship we had two pilot ladder, one of them was on port side and another on starboard side near the superstructure. In most cases pilot asked us to lower the ladder 1 meter to the water. When the pilot got on board we just lifted it slightly to not damage it be ways until the pilot left the board of the ship. If we were going to port, we put the ladder back to the superstructure only after the mooring.

During the mooring the Third Mate was on the bridge and helped the Captain and Pilot to moor the vessel by obeying the order of Captain on the telegraph. The Second Mate was at stern of the ship and led the mooring there. The Chief Mate was at forecastle. He was the leader there. I took part in this process and was at forecastle with Chief Mate, Boatswain, AB, OS, Fitter, and Oiler. Chief Officer used to tell us the safety measures during the mooring. He also told us which mooring rope we had to give. Bosun and Fitter were on the mooring winches. Bosun helped the Chief Officer to control the process of mooring and gave order to us as Chief. I, AB and Oiler had to obey the order and prepare the ropes for giving them to the birth. After mooring we had to put the rat-guards on the ropes and went to the superstructure to help other seamen to prepare the main ladder. After that we put the pilot ladder back on its place. If we were going to leave the port we used to hide the roped into the forecastle to protect them from waves and sun.

Anchorage is a very careful work. I didn’t take part in it but I can tell how it had to be on our ship. At first when it time for anchorage the bosun is send to the anchor to prepare it in good time and the mate has to tell his what anchor he has to prepare.

Preparation for anchoring in the following order: ready to work the mechanical parts of windlass according to the instructions for its use; make sure that the windlass divided and tape stoppers securely clamped, test the windlass in idle; uniting chain drum through the sprocket which is the anchor chain of this anchor; give a chain stopper (if they were imposed), release the helical stops or pick pawls at the stopper with throwing pawls and give tape stopper of this chain drum; check for people and foreign objects in the chain locker and condition of the laid anchor chain.

Anchoring is performed by boatswain under the direction of mate. To the anchorage ship presides on Dead Slow Ahead or by inertia with secured machine. Then there is a command from the bridge: "The right (left) anchors stand!" Before anchoring the machine is given reverse movement. When the vessel, reduced an inertia, begins to move back, from the bridge comes the command: "Give the right (left) anchor!" Anchoring with slow movement of the vessel allows the anchor quickly take the soil and also prevents the heap of anchor chain on the anchor of the vessel - on the anchor chain. The procedure depends on the depth in anchoring place.
