TOPIC 8. “Satisfying and dissatisfying factors in one’s job”.

‘It is not real work unless you would rather be doing something else’

Firstly it’s necessary to say that women are quite a lot more satisfied with their jobs than men.

But, there are at least several factors which can make person satisfied or dissatisfied with his/her job.

Firstly, low satisfaction factors:

People don’t like working long hours. They don’t like large workplaces. People always want to be independent and even at work they enjoy very much running their own business. A very large effect comes from insecurity at work. A great negative thing of job dissatisfaction is a possibility to lose a job.

A statistics says that a typically very dissatisfied workers are men, on low pay, in a large office or factory, who have to commute a long way to work, and who fear that he’s close to being sacked, close to loosing job.

But actually everything depends on the type of a person. Some like the routine work without the elements of creativity. But others enjoy a mobile work, a lot of communications. I think that’s it’s necessary for everyone to choose their work relatively to their wishes, possibilities, wills and interests. Let it be not so high pay, but let it be a work you really like. Of course, it’s very tough to get what we want and our wishes can’t be similar to our possibilities in real as it’s known, but the attempt to gain and reach it is always should be the prior.

Secondly, high satisfaction factors:

A high level of pay goes with a large amount of satisfaction with job. Also people seem to enjoy promotion opportunities a lot, it means they need a hierarchy that they feel they can move up through their life.

A work collective of people can be very attractive. If the atmosphere inside the company is pleasant and there are no hidden tension among workers, then you go to a work with a feelings of satisfaction, even if you don’t like your work too much. People can create their working places and make a surrounding very comfortable.

Also job security matters a lot to human beings – that certainly seems to motivate people.
