9. Course policy and learning expectations/teaching strategies and approach

Expectations

The University is committed to a high standard of professional conduct in all activities, and holds its commitment and responsibilities to its students as being of paramount importance. Likewise, it holds expectations about the responsibilities students have as they pursue their studies within the special environment the University offers.

Thus, students are expected to participate actively and positively in the teaching/learning environment. They must attend classes when and as required, strive to maintain steady progress within the subject or unit framework, comply with workload expectations, and submit required work on time.

Students are advised to learn the course materials after each topic (lecture). It is mandatory to read the relevant chapters of the textbook: Alan Lew, C. Michael Hall, Dallen J. Timothy, World Geography of Travel and Tourism: A Regional Approach. Elsevier Inc.: First Edition, 2008. Lecture presentations based on this Coursebook will be send by email to each student.

There will be given additional assignments such as to read academic articles which allow students to work on subject in depth.

In accordance with academic principles, students are expected to demonstrate respect and tolerance to the teacher, to each other, and to the course in general. They are not allowed to copy or reproduce the results of other student’s work or paper downloaded from the Internet. During the short exams cheating is not allowed (only the materials permitted by the teacher can be used). Not following these rules could lead to «F» grade.
