Computers are an important part of many people’s daily lives. Kids use computers to play games and to learn in school. Adults use them at home and in all kinds of work.

Universities, big companies and the military use supercomputers. A supercomputer is a powerful computer used for very complicated research tasks. The fastest supercomputers can carry out trillions of calculations per second.

As computers have become more advanced, their parts have become smaller and smaller. A tiny computer chip is small enough to pass through the eye of a needle! A computer stores information on its hard drive. The hard drive contains a round magnetic disk that the computer can write data onto for storage and later use.
