    1. Britain’s PM Visits Jordan

AMMAN (Reuters) - The British Prime Minister is visiting Jordan on Thursday on the new leg of his trip to the Middle East. He will meet the country’s leader to discuss the war against global terrorism and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He will continue to Israel for talks with Israel’s Prime Minister, and to Gaza, where he will meet the Palestinian leadership.

    1. Central Asia Tightens Cooperation

ASTANA (AP) – A summit meeting between China, Russia and three Central Asian states ended in the Kazakh capital Astana. The delegations have pledged to boost economic ties, implement measures to reduce poverty and curb corruption. According to the head of the Russian delegation it is impossible to achieve solid regional stability if it is not supported by multilateral economic cooperation.

China’s formerly strained relations with the former Soviet republics have markedly improved and the states are all eager to develop their cooperation, especially in the lucrative energy sector.

A joint communiqué issued after the meeting said the sides welcomed the opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation.

    1. Chinese Delegation Arrives in Moscow

BEIJING (AP) - A Chinese government delegation led by the Chinese leader arrived in Moscow yesterday on an official two-day visit. The talks are expected to focus on the urgent problems of international relations and some questions of mutual interest. After two days of talks a treaty of friendship and mutual assistance will be signed.

The new treaty will give a fresh impetus to Russian-Chinese relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman said. It comes at a time when both leaders are committed as never before to broadening bilateral cooperation and strengthening trust between the two states.

    1. Major Push for India-US Relations

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Indian Prime Minister and other top-level government officials are on a four-day state visit to the United States. The Indian leader will hold talks with the US President later today. Their discussions are expected to focus on state-to-state relations. Particular importance will be attached to cooperation in the area of science, technology, energy, agriculture, the Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesman said.

The sides are hopeful the visit will help overcome differences and strengthen bilateral ties. The visit of the Indian leader looks set to cement a relationship that is fast becoming one of the most important alliances in the new diplomatic landscape.

    1. Crisis EU Talks

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The British Prime Minister arrived in Brussels for an emergency EU summit today on a final leg of a 9000-mile diplomatic mission that has taken him to four countries in less than 48 hours.

The British leader flew in from Washington after talks with the US president and witnessing his address to a joint session of Congress which considered vital security issues. He will spend the day in informal talks with other EU leaders before a special meeting tonight aimed to discuss security issues.

The European commission has drafted proposals designed to improve security across the EU – and leaders will also want to set the stage for agreement on wider action against international terrorist groups.

The Prime Minister will return to London late tonight if the summit finishes on time.
