I would like to dedicate this third edition to the
incredible residents and students who I am privileged
to work with on a daily basis. They keep me on my
toes and stimulate all of us to ask more questions
about the world around us. The work on this
manuscript would not have been possible without my
family—their love and support are the most important
things in my life.
–D.L.B.
I would like to dedicate this textbook to my mentors,
whom inspire my passion for plastic surgery and
have helped shape my academic journey. I also
thank my parents, Hertanto and Mari, whose
unwavering encouragement has been invaluable
throughout my life. To my mentees, thank you for
inspiring me with your enthusiasm and curiosity. And
most importantly, to my husband, Kyle, who has
been my number one supporter and constant source
of love and motivation.
–W.A.
To every future student, resident, and APP who will
use this book to provide excellent care to their
patients: this edition is dedicated to you. To my
mentors, thank you for your constant support and

guidance. I am forever grateful for your wisdom,
encouragement, and belief in me. But above all, I
owe everything to my family. Mom and dad, your love
and support have been the foundation of my
success. And to my wife Anasta, your unwavering
love and encouragement has made everything
possible. You inspire me daily with your strength and
kindness. I am so lucky to have you in my life and
would not be where I am today without you.
