The article under review is entitled ‘World Economy Today’. It was written byAndrew Crow and published in the October issue. The main idea of the article is to draw readers’attention to the issue of migration which is currently the most pressing one. According to Andrew Crow EU countries are experiencing the hardest ever times being unable to deal with thousands of illegal migrants arriving daily. He points out that in 2017 Italian authorities claimed they would resist illegal immigration and send illegal ‘guests’back home immediately. I think this article is worth reading for those who are seeking ways of addressing the problems of immigration.

Fleet Street, Quality and Popular Newspapers
Abridged from press
Fleet Street in London used to be the home of most national daily and Sunday newspapers and that’s why people often say ‘Fleet Street’ to mean ‘the press’even now. In the 1980s most of the newspapers moved to new buildings in different parts of London to use new printing technologies. National papers are the ones sold all over the country, with a large readership or “circulation”, giving general news. They are produced in the capital city, London.
In recent years the circulation of the national newspapers has gone down. Some papers had to close because they weren’t making enough money — either from the sale of the paper or from the advertising in it. Some newspapers have started up in the last twenty years, for instance, The Sun and The Daily Star.
In Britain there are 12 national daily newspapers and most people read one of them every day. Daily newspapers are published on every day of the week except Sunday. People in Britain buy more papers on Sunday than on weekdays. Sunday newspapers are larger than daily ones. All the Sunday newspapers are national. Most national newspa-

pers in Britain express a political opinion, most of them right-wing,
and people choose the newspaper that they read according to their own political beliefs.
Britain newspapers can be divided into 2 groups: quality and popular. Quality newspapers are more serious and cover home and foreign news and issues while popular newspapers like shocking, personal stories. They are small in size with lots of pictures, big headlines and short articles. This sort of papers is easy to read and often gives more space to opinions than to news. They prefer ‘human interest’ stories aboutordinarypeopleandevents.Thepopularpressconsistsof‘Daily Mail’, the ‘Express’, the ‘Daily Star’and ‘The Sun”. The quality daily papers are ‘The Times’, ‘The Guardian’, ‘The Daily Telegraph’ and the ‘Financial Times’*. ‘The Times’, founded in 1785, is considered to be the most authoritative newspaper voice in the country and is said to be the paper of the Establishment. ‘The Guardian’ appeals to welleducated readers interested in intellectual and social affairs. ‘The Daily Telegraph’ is bought by educated upper-middle and middleclass readers. The ‘Financial Times’, printed on pink pagers, is read by businessmen. These papers have different pages for home news, foreign affairs, feature articles, fashion, business and so on.
In all newspapers there is a desperate fight to maintain or improve their circulation but it is worst among the ‘popular’ papers whose main weapons are sex, scandal and sport. These two groups of papers can be distinguished easily because the quality newspapers are twice the size of popular ones.
Apart from London-based, there are many local newspapers to serve towns and areas outside London. Most of these are evening papers (there is only one London evening paper) and many appear weekly.

Key Phrases for Making a Business Presentation
by Kenneth Beare, About. com Guide
Opening Statements
—First of all, I’d like to thank you all for coming here today.
—My name is X and I am the (your position) at (your company).
Points to Remember: Try to make eye contact with everyone you are speaking to if possible. You can also smile at individual members of the audience to put them at their ease.
19
—I’d briefly like to take you through today’s presentation.
—First, we’re going to ...
—After that, we’ll be taking a look at ...
—Once we’ve identified our challenges we will be able to ...
—Finally, I’ll outline what ...
Points to Remember: Make sure to indicate each point on your presentation as you introduce each topic. This can be done with a slide (Power Point) presentation, or by pointing to each point on the display device you are using.
Asking for Questions
—Please feel free to interrupt me with any questions you may have during the presentation.
—I’d like to ask you to keep any questions you may have for the end of the presentation.
Points to Remember: You can also request the participants to leave questions to the end of the presentation. However, it is important to let participants know that you are willing to answer any questions they may have.
Using VisualAids
—As you can see from this graph representing ...
—If you could just take a look at ...
—Looking at X we can see that ...
Points to Remember: Use visual aids to emphasize your main points in a conversation. Fewer visual aids that are meaningful leave a stronger impression than using a lot of visual aids that might also confuse listeners.
Presenting the Current Situation
—I’d like to begin by outlining our present situation.
—As you know ...
—You may not know that ...
Points to Remember: ‘As you know’or ‘You may not know that’are polite ways of informing those who don’t know without offending those who do know certain facts.
