Nothing is stopping you from becoming a designer
Therearesomemisconceptionsthatusuallykeeppeoplefromtryingtogetintodesign.Myth numberoneisthemythoftalentswhichgoeslike“I’mnotacreativeperson,orI’mnotjustborn creative”.And it is a misconception. When we watch skillful world class athletesat Olympics we understand all the years and decades of hard work and training that went into this big performance. But on theother hand, when we watch a creative person at complicated work just bursting withideas, we say: “Well, this person is lucky to be born so creative”.But here is thebignewsforyou.Peoplearenotborncreative.Peoplebecomecreative!Andthesameway we can train our bodies to get stronger and faster we can train our brains to be more creative.
Themythnumbertwoisthemythofskillsthatgoeslike“IwishIstudieddesign, butI don’t know how todraw”.But that’s not really important! Drawing, or even using software, these are all just tools, but being a designer is about the state of mind, not the tools you use.And the tools, you just get to learn all along the way. So don’t worry about the skills when you just start. And now you ask: “I don’t need skills, I don’t need talent, and what do I need to become a designer?”What you just need for now is to have a curiosity. Curiosity

UNIT 1. DESIGN AND DESIGNERS
10.Translate from Russian into English.

Paul Rand. Think Different
The outstanding graphic designer Paul Rand (1914–1996) started his successful career with stock images in various newspapers and magazines. In the 1950s and 1960s he gained his fame in corporate logos. Rand’s most widely known contributions to design are his corporate identities, many of which are still in use: IBM,ABC, Cummins Engine,UPS. His cooperation with Steve Jobs led to some of the most beautiful industrial design and revolutionary products in human history. Steve Jobs hired Rand to create the corporate identity for his company NeXT. Jobs recognized his great talent, calling Paul Rand “the greatest graphic designer”.
Interviewer: “Was he the first designer that you approached?” Steve Jobs: “He was the only one we approached”.
