A color wheel based on red, yellow and blue, is traditional in the field of art. Sir Isaac Newton developedthefirst circular diagram of colors in 1666.Since then, scientists and artists have studied andhave created numerous variations of this concept. In reality, anycolor wheel presents a logically arranged sequence of pure colors. Max Lüscher (1923–2017) is a Swiss psychologist and creator of his famous ColorTest. His test based on color preferences reflects a psychological state of a person.
Lüscher thought that color perception is universal and individual color preferences help to find out a psychological type of a person. He worked out (developed) the 4 main types of people: blue, green, red, and yellow. People of blue type prefer harmony, calm and traditional

Color trends undoubtedly reflect economic and political situation in a country. Also the worldwide trends influence color preferences significantly. For example, themost popular colors in the world in 70-s were bright saturated colors, in 80-s cool hues, in 90-s warm tints of red and orange. An international cooperation of experts in the field of architecture, art, fashion and design helps to develop a relatively universal color palette for a particular time period. For example, in 2016 designers worked with warm pleasant hues adding dark and almost mysterious colors. A balance of opposites will possibly be trendy in the further time period too. It’s obviously that the trend of the second decade of the 21th century is ignoring of primary pure colors. Designers create various hues mixing and combing their tones and tints.

In 1990 the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston was robbed. 13 works of art valued at $ 500 million were stolen. It is considered the largest-value theft of private property in history. Despite efforts by the FBI and multiple probes around the world, no arrests have been made and no workshave been recovered till now.The museum initially offered a reward of $ 5 million for information leading to their recovery, but in 2017 this rewardwas doubled to $ 10million.ThestolenworkswerepurchasedbyartcollectorIsabellaStewartGardner(1840– 1924). Since the collection is permanent, empty frames remain hanging to the missing works for when they are returned.
Experts have been puzzled by the choice of paintings that were stolen, especially since more valuable artwork was untouched. According to the FBI, the stolen artwork was moved through the region and offered for sale in Philadelphia during the early 2000s. They believe thethievesweremembersofacriminalorganizationwhichisbasedinthemid-AtlanticandNew England. Boston gangster Bobby Donati, who was murdered in 1991 as a result of ongoing gang wars, has been cited as a possible collaborator in the robbery. Due to the high profile of the museum theft, it has been referenced and parodied in many different works.

The Scream was stolen twice. The first painting was stolen from The National Gallery of Norway in 1997. That time the Winter Olympics were held there. Due to effective work of Norwegian police the painting was found and recovered to the museum. The painting has been exhibited again. In 2004 The Munch Museum in Oslo was robbed. Since then Norway has been more visited in order to see the paintings. They haven’t been traveled out the country for the exhibitions. The Scream is very popular in mass culture. In the 20th century it was parodied, imitated and copied. It was copied byAndy Warhol. It was taken for a creation of an appearance of the characters of Silence race in the British series Doctor Who.

The boring designers choose obvious over clever every time. They value their clients’
relevant experience over their own. Adaptable “compromises” they choose make their clients to benefit and that’s all that matters. The boring designers rarely (seldom) stand their ground. They chase the appropriate idea over their random ideas. They respect their team and will try almost any arbitrary idea that gets thrown their way instead of arguing about whose idea should win. They consistently request feedback and new ideas. The boring designers value laziness. They realize that it isn’t crucial to put their personal stamp on everything they touch. The boring designers love consistency. The boring designers love rigorous guidelines. They pick the right moments to upgrade or update tested and checked laziness-promoting tools. If no laziness-promoting tools exist, the boring designers temporarily allow themselves to be super-exciting so they can create those tools and go back to being boring once more. People trust the boring designers to look at their essential problems with a practical eye. The boring designers are relevantly trusted and valued, because people know they’re in it for the product and the client. The boring designers ask consequent and precise questions and consistently rely on others’experience and expertise, creating even more trust over time.

Empathy is not a tool, empathy is a lifestyle
Empathy is one of crucial approaches in design. To create iconic products a designer should know his clients and take care of their lives consistently. People are not rational, as they make random emotional decisions. The purpose of designers is a consequent improving of their clients’experiences by adapting a product to their essential needs. Designers who promote their vision rigorously are not able to satisfy their customers’ needs relevantly.
119
Empathic designers ask for a feedback consistently listening to the arbitrary clients’ideas. Empathic designers never ask:”How do you like the result?”Aclient won’t give a relevant answer. An empathic designer asks a more appropriate question:”What could I do better?” Empathy also means that a designer corrects his approach consistently to gain a better decision for his clients.

Whether physical or online, your design portfolio is your career calling card. Physical design portfolios are tailored creations to the job you are applying for. To make an amazing portfolio you should aim to fill at least 20 pages of a physical folio, and at least 30 examples for an online space. Include just finished examples that are appropriate to the position you are looking for. Employed illustrators and designers got a job not just for their style but also for interpreting a creative brief. Make sure you use explaining annotations and notes to talk about how and why the work was created. Your portfolio doesn’t need to be limited to only including client work. Self-initiated projects are acceptable in full-time applications, and recommended for freelance work – especially for illustrators. Take a step back and try to look at your design portfolio through another’s eyes. Experienced employers, project managers and agents know how to match up a resume to a design portfolio. Put an emphasis on mostly interesting examples not to make your employer get bored to look for them. So think critically about what a designed portfolio says about you.
