PROJECT WORK

1. Finish your project work on accommodations in one of the European capitals. Your work should consist of the following parts:

The name of the hotel and a few-words advertisement;

Location (the place of location, address and telephone numbers);

Accommodation (rooms and facilities); Restaurants and bars;

Other facilities; Reservation.

2.You are looking for the job. What position(s) do you want to find? Describe everything you are going to do to find a good job. List the sources of information you will use, people you will meet, etc/ Write letters of application, resume and CV. Get references from people who know you and can recommended you for this position (e.g. your university professors, former or current employees, senior colleagues, etc/ but not relatives).

3.Get ready for an interview. Present your cover letter and resume/CV to your potential employer, go to the interview and get accepted for the positions you want!

4.Write a description of your perfect hotel.

5.Choose one of the jobs, or invent a job that would interest you. Then prepare for an interview. One person should be an applicant, the other — the interviewer.

6.Write an essay on the topic «My Future Career As I See It».

7.Write an essay on the topic «Business Travel in Russia».

8.Write an essay on the topic «My Ideal Hotel».

9.Work in groups. Imagine that you are designing your own two or three star hotel, with all the facilities you think it should have. Before you start fill in the blanks in (1) and (2) with some more ideas of your own.

1.First of all decide on the following:

The location of your hotel: beach, city center, city outskirts, lakeside...

The guests you are expecting: businesspeople, budget travelers, families on vacation...

2.Now decide what facilities you want to offer. This is not Ritz

Paris Hotel, so can’t offer the same wide range of luxury facilities — your budget limits you to five!

Room facilities: (five only) Satellite TV, Fax phone, Balcony or terrace, Sun beds on the balcony, Desk and chairs, Armchairs, Minibar, 24-hour room service, Air-conditioner, ...

Public facilities: (five only) Indoor pool, Fitness centre, Outdoor heated pool, TV room, Tennis court, Golf course, Sauna, Children’s playroom, Sunbathing area, ...

3.Draw a plan of your hotel, showing where the public facilities will be located. Then draw a plan of a guest room, showing how it will designed.

4.Prepare a presentation of your ideas, which you will give to the rest of the class.

10.Whole-class activity. Each team presents it’s design to the rest of the class. Vote on the most imaginative design.

11.Discuss:

Choosing a hotel you always face a dilemma: good-value price or good location and service.

Internet offers a lot of advantages to travelers because they can book hotel on-line, but steals business from the travel and accommodation agencies.

It doesn’t matter if the hotel is family-run or governmentowned.
