Travelling.

Kinds of travel:

Voyage is made by water or air.

Trip is a brief journey made by water or land.

Tour is a journey in which a short stay is made in a number of places, the traveler finally returns to the place from which he started.

Cruise is a sea voyage from port to port.

Hitch-hiking is travelling by getting free rides in passing automobiles and walking between rides.

Thousands of people travel every day either on business or for pleasure. They travel by plane, train, ship or car. All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. Travelling by plane is the fastest but the most expensive way. Travelling by train is slower but you can see more beautiful scenery and interesting places of the country. Travelling by ship is popular mostly for pleasure trips. It is very comfortable but very expensive too. Lots of people prefer travelling by car because you can stop wherever you want and spend there as much time as you like but I think it is very tiresome for the driver.

People travel to see other countries, cities, ruins of ancient towns, to enjoy beautiful scenery. It is always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, or meet people of other nationalities, to taste exotic food, to listen to different music. Some people prefer a quiet holiday by the sea or in the mountains with nothing to do but walk, bathe and laze in the sun.

Of course we can learn a lot about other places sitting at home, reading books or watching TV but as a good proverb says “Seeing is believing”.
