7. Bribery stopped

It happened in America shortly after it was colonized by the Spaniards. The Spaniard stole the Indian's horse and then refused to return it.

The Indian went to court, but the judge was a bad man and took bribes. Then the Indian knew this and he in­vented a trick how to deceive the judge. Before going to the court on the day of the trial, he took a big stone and put it under his arm. The judge at once noticed that the Indian had something under his arm and decided the case in the In­dian s favour.

After the trial, when the judge and the Indian were left alone, the judge asked the former what it was under his arm and whom it was meant for. The Indian showed him the stone and told it was meant for the judge in case he would have decided in the Spaniard's favour. It was a good lesson for the bad judge and he gave up the habit of taking bribes

Индеец обратился в суд, но судья суда был плохим человеком и брал взятки. Индеец знал это и изобрел трюк, как обмануть судью. Прежде чем пойти в суд в день суда, он взял большой камень и положил его под руку. Судья сразу заметил, что у индейца что-то было под рукой, и решил дело в пользу индейца.

После суда, когда судья и индиец остались одни, судья спросил первого, что у него под рукой и для кого это предназначено. Индеец показал ему камень и сказал, что он предназначен для судьи в случае, если он решит в пользу испанца. Это был хороший урок для плохого судьи, и он отказался от привычки брать взятки.
