4. Read the text “Qazaq air” and write a summary.

Q azaq Air is a new domestic regional airline in Kazakhstan founded by Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund owning 100% of shares of the airline. The company was registered in April 2015. Qazaq Air will meet the highest local and international safety requirements and operate modern turboprop aircraft. The airline logo was developed on the basis of the theme “Connecting Kazakhstan” and the network of regional flights. The 14 colourful circles represent the 14 regions of Kazakhstan. 

The airline fleet consists of three Canadian modern turboprop aircrafts Bombardier Q400 NextGen.

T he advantages include high reliability, low operational expenses, convenient bright cabin and noise comfort.

One of the most impressive characteristics of our fleet is the active noise and vibration suppression system in the cabin, which provides maximum level of noise comfort during the flight.

Qazaq air’s vision: To provide accessible regional air services in Kazakhstan in accordance with the highest local and international safety standards.

Qazaq air’s mission: To connect the regions of Kazakhstan and in doing so stimulate the economic development of the regions.

Role play.

Each of you gets one of the roles below. Choose your role and think of things to say.

S tudent 1: You work at the check-in desk. You are very strict. When the suitcase is too heavy, you tell the passenger that s/he must pay. There are no exceptions!

S tudent 2: You are the passenger. You are traveling to a new country. You will work there for two years. You need a lot of luggage. It is very heavy. You do not want to pay extra money. Explain your situation to the man at the check-in counter. You like to complain. When you go through the security check, complain about having to open your bag. When you get on the plane, complain that you cannot keep you carry-on bag on the seat next to you.

S tudent 3: You are the security guard. When the passenger’s bag goes through the x-ray screener, you see something strange. It looks like a _______________! You want to check to see what it is. Tell the passenger to open his or her bag.

S tudent 4: You are the flight attendant. Ask to see the passenger’s boarding pass and show that person to his or her seat. Tell the person that s/he cannot keep a carry-on bag on the seat. It goes in the luggage compartment.
