1. Read and translate the text: About Myself

A few words about myself. My name is Ivan. I’m twenty-five. I’m a student of South Ural State Agrarian University. I have entered the university this year, I like studying here very much, though it’s sometimes difficult as I already have a family of my own and so I have a lot of responsibilities. 

My character is cheerful in general. I’m a happy and an optimistic person. I have a good sense of humor. I think my main disadvantage is that I’m hot-tempered sometimes, but this normally doesn’t affect my relations with people. 

As I have said I have a family: my wife and a son. My wife is twenty-four. Her name is Irina. She is kind and clever. She is good at cooking. My wife always supports me and takes care of me and my son.

As for my son, his name is Nikita. He is three years old. He goes to the kindergarten. Nikita is a smart and funny boy. He likes painting and hockey.

I like to spend time with my family. We like watching good films, go to the cinema and to the skating-rink. I help my wife about the house. I go shopping, clean the rooms and so on, but it’s not difficult for me. I’d like our home to be clean and tidy. I think home is the nicest place. As proverb says, "East or West, home is best”. And I’m sure that there is no place like home and there are no people dearer than your relatives.

1. Read and translate the text: My Working Day

On week days I usually get up nearly six o'clock. I do not like to get up early, but I have to, because I have a lot of work to do during the day.

I make my bed, wash my face, put my clothes on and go to the kitchen to have breakfast. My wife usually prepares breakfast for me, but sometimes I do it myself. If I prepare my breakfast for my own, I should have to get up earlier. I do not like big breakfasts; I prefer a cup of coffee and a sandwich.

Then I go to work at 7:20. It is rather far from my house and I go there by car. I work as an electrical engineer, I work at the plant. There I supervise the installation of electrical systems and check electrical system projects. I have dinner at our canteen.

I work till five or six o'clock, it depends on a week day. Then I take my son from kindergarten and we come home and have supper. I like a big supper, we eat soup for the first course, some meat with the garnish for the second course and drink tea.

After my supper I have a rest for a couple of hours and then I do some work about the house, help my wife. Then we go for a walk with my family or watch TV, or read books. I spend a lot of time with my family.

I usually go to bed at about ten o'clock, sometimes at eleven o'clock.
