Хід уроку
WARM-UP
Game “Card Swap"
Play with the whole class. Give each pupil a picture card (from a mixture of different sets). Check the pupils know how to say the word on their card. Pupils walk around the classroom. They take turns to show another child their card. If both pupils can identify what is on each other’s cards, they swap cards and the game continues in the same way. If a pupil can’t identify what’s on a card, the other pupil ‘teaches’ them the word. They then swap cards and the game continues in the same way. At the end, pupils report back on how many times they swapped cards and identify the pictures on all the cards.
PRESENTATION
Read the advertisement about a school event (p. 97, ex. 1).
Explain to pupils that they are going to read a new kind of texts. It is an advertisement.
Ask pupils to read the advertisement in silence after you.
Pronounce the words clearly.
Do choral and individual repetition of every sentence.
Follow the same procedure three or four times.
Then pupils read the questions themselves in a chain. Do choral and individual repetition if it is necessary again.
Ask: “What day is the school event? What kind of event is it? Where is it going to be?”
PRACTICE
Complete the notes about a Humour Day Celebration (p. 98, ex. 2).
Pupils read the questions and write the answers to them in pairs. If it is necessary, read the advert again.
Key: 1. It is School Drama Club. 2. Everybody can come. 3. The party starts on Friday, April 1st at 2 p.m. 4. It is at School Assembly Hall.
There is a play and pop songs.
Work in pairs. Complete the dialogue and act it out. Use the questions from Ex. 2 (p. 98, ex. 3).
Pair work: Pupils read the dialogue and fill in the gaps with the necessary questions from Ex.2.
Pupils make their own dialogues.
Monitor the activity and help where necessary.
Pupils act out the dialogue in pairs.
One or two pairs act out the dialogue, and so on.
READING AND WRITING
a) Work in groups. Invent your own celebration. Tell the class about it. What holiday is it going to be? How are you going to celebrate it? (p. 98, ex. 4).
Divide pupils into three groups.
Ask pupils to read the task.
They read the answer the questions about their celebration.
Monitor the activity and help where necessary.
b) Interview the other groups about their celebration. Ask them:
Write the questions on the board to help pupils to ask the other groups about their celebration.
Pupils read the task and make questions.
Key: 1. What day is your celebration? What time is your celebration?
Who can take part in is your celebration? 3. Where can we meet? 4. What is it going to happen at your celebration? 5. Why do you celebrate this day?
Write an advertisement for the event in your school. Use Ex.l on p. 97 as a modal (p. 99, ex. 5).
Read the advert again. Pupils repeat after you.
Ask pupils to write an advertisement for the event in their school. Ask them to mention:
the day and the date
the time
the place
the programme
the organizers EXTRA
Game "Ordinal Numbers"
Remind pupils how ordinal numbers after first, second and third are similar to cardinal numbers, except to the spelling changes for five - fifth and twelve-twelfth. In these two cases there is a small pronunciation change also. All the other ordinal numbers simply add -th to the end of the cardinal number. Demonstrate this on the board.
Ask pupils to write the pairs of numbers in their copybooks.
ENDING THE LESSON
Revise any poem or a chant.
Game "Associations"
Say the name of any of the season. Pupils in pairs then work together, trying to think of and write down within a two-minute period as many words as possible they associate with that season, e.g. winter - holidays (and any words for specific holidays) New year, presents, a fir tree, etc.; spring - warm, green trees, flowers, etc.
Home work
Read (p. 98, ex. 3).
