Хід уроку

WARM-UP

  1. Game "Miming Game"

Pupils mime the new transport words from this unit in pairs, and the other pupils try to guess the right answer.

Ask pupils to use like and dislike sentences.

PRESENTATION

  1. Listen, repeat and point (p. 77, ex. 1).

Ask pupils to look at the city plan.

Say the new words and tell pupils to find them on the plan. Drill each new word two or three times. Write these words down into their vocabularies.

Do choral and individual repetition.

Monitor the activity and help where necessary. Use board sketches, miming and gestures to make sure the pupils understand the meaning of the new words.

Help with pronunciation. If you like, ask pupils to make sentences with these words.

PRACTICE

  1. Say which of these places you can find in your city / town / village (p. 77, ex. 2).

Write the questions on the board.

Pupils read and answer.

a supermarket

a bank

Is there

a library

in your city / town / village?

a hotel

a cafe

Pupils read the questions and give true answer about their city / town / village.

Then tell pupils to ask each other the same questions.

  1. Complete the sentences with the words from Ex. 1 (p. 77, ex. 3). Ask pupils to complete the sentences using the new words.

Pair work: Pupils read the sentences silently to themselves or they work on them together in pairs. Pupils match suitable forms and fill in the gaps. If it is necessary, translate the words into the native language.

Then they read the sentences aloud.

Ask pupils to read the sentences in a chain.

Go round helping. You can ask pupils to write the sentences down.

Do choral and individual reading again.

If you have some time, you can ask pupils to write the sentences down in their exercise books.

Ask some bright pupils to write the sentences on the board too.

Key: 1. supermarket; 2. library; 3. cafe; 4. hotel; 5. a bank.

READING AND WRITING

  1. a) Listen, read and say (p. 78, ex. 4).

Pupils read the questions and read the answers to these questions in pairs.

b) Work in pairs. Take turns to ask and answer about the places in the picture to Ex. 1.

Revise the prepositions of place. Make some sentences with them. Use board sketches, miming and gestures to make sure the pupils understand the meaning of the words.

Pair work: Pupils read the questions again. Look at the plan of the city and explain where the buildings are.

Go round helping. You can ask pupils to write the sentences down.

Do choral and individual reading again.

Monitor the activity and help where necessary.

  1. Write six sentences to the table (p. 78, ex. 5).

Pupils read the words and word combinations in every column.

Ask pupils to make true sentences using the words from the columns and explain where the buildings are. Ask to translate the sentences if it is necessary.

Ask pupils to make as many sentences to the table and write some of them down in their exercise books.

Help with pronunciation and sentence rhythm especially.

Monitor the activity.

ENDING THE LESSON

  1. Game "Disappearing Cards"

Stick five or seven city flashcards on the board. Do choral repetition of the words. Then remove one of the flashcards in the sequence. Pupils chant the whole sequence of six words, including the missing one. Repeat the words, removing another flashcard. Continue till there are no flashcards on the board and pupils are saying the whole sequence from memory. You can also play the game by writing five words on the board, then rubbing them out one at a time. Home work

Read (p. 78, ex. 4).

Use Workbook tasks at the lesson or at home.
