Хід уроку

WARM-UP

  1. Game "Card Swap"

Play with the whole class. Give each pupil a picture card (from a mixture of different sets). Check the pupils know how to say the word on their card. Pupils walk around the classroom. They take turns to show another child their card. If both pupils can identify what is on each other’s cards, they swap cards and the game continues in the same way. If a pupil can’t identify what’s on a card, the other pupil ‘teaches’ them the word. They then swap cards and the game continues in the same way. At the end, pupils report back on how many times they swapped cards and identify the pictures on all the cards.

PRESENTATION

  1. Listen, read and say the chant (p. 47, ex. 1).

Read the rhyme. Pupils listen.

Say the rhyme line by line and ask pupils to repeat after you.

Translate the difficult words if necessary.

When you have practiced the rhyme thoroughly, tell pupils that they are going to say it themselves.

Pupils read the lines chorally and individually.

Post-reading: Ask pupils to match the questions and the answers of the chant.

Pair work: Ask pupils to make a dialogue.

Monitor the activity and help where necessary.

Pupils act out the dialogue in pairs using the information from the chant. One or two pairs act out the dialogue, and so on.

EXTRA Game "Now"

Children stand in a circle. Give instructions e.g. Fly... nowl / Swim ...now! Play football...! Children listen to your instructions but only respond with the actions when you say ‘now’.

PRACTICE

  1. Work in pairs. Ask and answer (p. 48, ex. 2).

Pair work: Ask pupils to read the questions one by one.

Ask pupils to give the Yes / No answers only and then complete No answers with extra information.

Ask pupils to copy out the questions and write down the answers in their exercise books and on the board.

When pupils read Wh-questions they have to give true answers.

Key: Pupils give their own answers.

EXTRA

Game "Arrange the Cards"

Play with the whole class with you giving instructions and / or pupils play in pairs with a screen e.g. an open book between them. Pupil A lays their cards in a row and then gives instructions e.g. play football, watch TV, run, etc. to their partner to order their cards in the same way. At the end children check that their cards are in the same order and then change roles.

READING AND WRITING

  1. Listen, read and match (p. 48, ex. 3).

Ask pupils to read two texts about Jane and Tom and say what kind of programmes they like to watch on TV.

Pair work: Pupils read in pairs and choose the correct answers.

EXTRA

Game "Charades"

Which TV programme is this? Can you guess? Pupils act out a programme from the TV guide. The rest of the class tries to guess the programme. The first pupil to guess correctly performs the next mime.

  1. Tell classmates about your favourite TV programme. Use the questions to help you (p. 48, ex. 4).

Ask pupils to read the instruction. Pupils read it in silence.

Then ask a pupil to read an example and ask him / her to make a similar story about his / her favourite TV programme.

Then ask other pupils to tell the class what programmes they like to watch on TV.

Write some sentences on the board from different stories on the board to practice spelling.

  1. Write 6-7 sentences about the TV programme you like. Use the plan of Ex. 4 (p. 48, ex. 5).

After doing the previous exercise ask pupils to make a short story about their favourite TV programme. Explain to pupils that they are going to answer the questions of Ex.4 and their answers will be a short story about the TV programme they like.

ENDING THE LESSON

  1. Game "Mime the Flashcard"

Hold up flashcards in turn and say the names. Children mime in response e.g. they can pretend to eat a particular food (if you are using food flashcards), imitate a particular animal (animal flashcards) or put on clothes (clothes flashcards). Then mime different flashcards yourself or invite individual or pairs of children to take turns to do this. Children watch and call out the names or make sentences using Present Continuous only.

  1. Listen and repeat the chant (p. 47, ex. 1).

Home work

Read (p. 16-17, ex. 2, 3, 4).

Further practice

Use Workbook tasks at the lesson or at home.
