• навчальна: ввести нові лексичні одиниці, удосконалювати навички вимови англій­ських слів та складання тематичних діалогів;

• розвиваюча: розвивати мовленнєві компетенції, спонтанні відповіді на запитан­ня та швидку реакцію; розвивати комунікативні здібності учнів, навички аудіювання та діалогічного мовлення;

• виховна, викликати в дітей бажання вчитися, вивчати іноземну мову як мову спіл­кування; виховувати дисципліну, повагу до однокласників, звичку до систематичної розумової праці.

Обладнання: картки за підтемою «Я, моя сім'я та друзі», плакат «Дієслова».

Хід уроку

WARM-UP

1. Game "Rhyming Words"

Put up two or three phonics cards around the room, saying the words for children to repeat. Ask children to stand up at their desks. Tell them you are going to call out words which rhyme with the words in the cards. Call out other words from the phonics lessons. Children point to the words on the wall. With a strong class, you may also ask them to repeat both words. Gradually get faster and faster. Children who point to the wrong word are out and have to sit down. With a limited number of words, you may call out both the words on the cards and words which rhyme with them.

PRESENTATION

2. a) Listen and repeat (p. 41, ex. 1).

Teach and then drill the new words using the pictures.

Read out the caption for each of the pictures in turn. Pupils listen and look at the pictures. Use board sketches, miming and gestures to check if pupils have understood the meaning of the new words.

Pupils take turns to read out the words. Help with pronunciation.

Go round helping.

Repeat with several different pupils.

After oral practice, write Tike+ -ing’, ‘enjoy+ -ing’ on the board. Pupils read and say these phrases.

Then name the actions and ask pupils to make sentences using the pattern: “I like painting. I enjoy taking photos.”

b) Read.

Read the text. Ask pupils to read the sentences in silence after you. You can translate difficult sentences into the native language.

Pronounce the words clearly.

Do choral and individual repetition of difficult words. Follow the same procedure three or four times.

Ask pupils to find sentences with ‘like-l- -ing’, ‘enjoy+ -ing’ in the text.

Then pupils read the text themselves in a chain. Do choral and individual repetition if it is necessary again.

While-reading: Ask the questions: “What is the text about? What do girls like doing? What do boys like doing?”

Post-reading: “What is your hobby?”

3. Answer the questions (p. 41, ex. 2).

Pair work: After reading the text ask pupils to read the questions and give the answers about hobbies and activities.

Monitor the activity and help where necessary. Pupils act out the dialogue in pairs using the questions and giving the answers about hobbies and activities.

One or two pairs act out the dialogue, and so on.

Then pupils should use these questions to describe their hobbies and activities.

PRACTICE

4. a) Work in pairs. Take turns to ask and answer your friend about his / her hobbies and take some notes (p. 41, ex. 3).

Pair work: Stick a poster or flashcards with hobbies or children’s activities on the board. Ask pupils to look at the pictures in exercise 1 too and name these hobbies and activities.

Ask pupils to read the questions one by one. Ask pupils to give the Yes / No answers only.

Ask pupils to copy out the questions and write down the answers in their exercise books and on the board.

b) Tell the class one or two things about your friend’s hobby.

Ask pupils to say one or two things about their friend’s hobby or hobbies.

READING AND WRITING

5. a) Look and say what you like doing (p. 42, ex. 4).

Ask pupils to look at the pictures in exercise and name these hobbies and activities.

Read the example.

Then ask pupils to say what they like doing.

Ask pupils to write down the sentences in their exercise books and on the board using ‘like+ -ing’, ‘enjoy+ -ing’ in the sentences.

Ask pupils to underline them.

b) Talk about each hobby you see in Ex. 4a.

Ask pupils to describe each hobby using the pattern “I think ... is interesting / boring / easy / exiting.”

Ask pupils to read the example and say one or two things about hobbies in a chain.

6. Write six sentences about your hobbies (p. 43, ex. 5).

Pupils read the example individually.

Then they write six sentences about their hobbies using the pattern.

They read or retell about their hobbies.

ENDING THE LESSON

Game "Miming Game"

Mime eating food e.g. a banana or doing an action e.g. dance.

Children guess what you’re eating or doing and call out the name. Repeat the procedure and, if appropriate, invite individual children to take turns to come and stand by you and mime to the rest of the class. Encourage attention to hobbies or activities in this game.

Home work

Read (p. 41, ex. la), b)).
