Хід уроку

WARM-UP

  1. Game "Miming Game"

Ask individuals to come out and mime any of the rooms in the house they learnt in this lesson. They ask, “Which room is this?” and mime e.g. washing face and hands = bathroom; yawning and then sleeping = bedroom; watching TV or reading = living-room; breaking eggs or eating = kitchen. The other pupils watch and guess which room it is.

PRESENTATION

  1. Listen, point and say the chant (p. 34, ex. 1).

Books are closed. Read the chant. Pupils listen.

Ask pupils to open the books.

Ask questions about the characters on the page, “Who are these children? What are they doing? Where are they?”

Read the chant again. Pupils listen, read and point at the necessary picture.

Pupils read and practise their part in the chant for a few minutes. Go round helping.

Read the chant with several different pupils.

PRACTICE

  1. Work in pairs. Take turns to ask and answer about your household chores (p. 35, ex. 2).

Pair work: Ask pupils to look at the pictures in exercise land name these household chores.

Then stick some similar pictures or photos on the board and ask pupils to name them.

You can stick the other pictures or photos if you have.

Ask pupils to read the questions one by one. Ask pupils to give the answers using different information which they have learned in the lesson.

Ask pupils to copy out the questions and write down the answers in their exercise books and on the board.

  1. a) Play the miming game. Pupil A mimes household chores. Pupil В tells what the pupil A is doing, (p. 35, ex. 3).

Stick a table “The Present Continuous Tense” on the board and revise the tense. Ask pupils to make own sentences using the table. Pay their attention to the pact that actions are at the moment of speech.

Ask pupils to read the example.

Tell pupils they are going to play the game “I am ... now”. Explain the rules of this game. Pupils should choose a word combination and mime it. The oth­er pupils should guess this word combination using the patterns, “He / She is cooking now.”

Stick many household chores on the board.

Ask pupils to choose any flashcard and mime it.

b) Work in pairs. Ask and answer about the household chores.

Pair work: Ask pupils to look at the pictures and say what the Parkers are doing at the moment.

Then ask the pairs ask questions and give the answers using the example. Monitor the activity and help where necessary.

READING AND WRITING

  1. Write down four sentences about the Parkers. Use the table from Ex. 3b (p. 36, ex. 4).

Ask pupils to write different sentences about the Parkers and their household chores.

Then ask pupils to read their sentences to the class.

Monitor the activity and help where necessary.

  1. a) Draw a poster about your household chores and write about them (p. 36, ex. 5).

Give every pupil a piece of paper to draw a poster about their household chores.

Ask pupils to read the example and fill in the gaps with suitable words.

You can ask pupils to write it down in their exercise books.

Key: 1. tidy;; 2. go shopping; 3. wash up; 4. vacuum; 5. dusting the furniture, water flowers.

Give pupils enough time to draw their posters. If you haven’t got enough time, ask to finish their work at home.

b) Tell your classmates about your household chores.

Ask pupils to tell about their household chores using the patterns from the example.

ENDING THE LESSON

  1. Game "Associations"

Say the name of any activity. Pupils in pairs try to think of and write down within a two-minute period as many words as possible they associate with this activity (e.g. watch TV - cartoon, actor, film, funny, song, singer etc.; read a book - story, interesting, tale, sad, act out a tale, etc.)

Home work

Read (p. 34, ex. 1).

Further practice

Use Workbook tasks at the lesson or at home.

Обладнання: картки за темами «Я, моя сім'я та друзі», «Я, моя сім'я, друзі (місце прожи­вання)», підтемою «Помешкання».
