Removal
Removetherider'sseatasdescribedonpage
17.9.
Disconnectthebatterynegative(black)leadfirst.
Removetheengineinfillpanelfromthelefthandsideoftheengine(see page17.10).
Note:
Behindtheengineinfillpanel,securedbythesamefixingsasthepanel,isaconnectorsupportbracket.Theroadspeedsensorplugislocatedhere.
Releasethescrewsecuringthesensortothebottomofthe engine,onthe lefthandside.
Installation
Fitanew0-ringtothesensor.Lubricatethe0-ringwithasmearofpetroleumjelly.
Positionthesensortotheengineandroutethewiringasnotedpriortoremoval.
Retainthesensorwiththe screwthentightenthescrewto9 Nm.
Connectthesensortothemainwiringharness.Reattachtheconnectortothebracket.
Positionthelefthandengineinfillpaneltotheframe.Alignthescrewholesinthepanelwiththoseintheconnectorbracketandframe.Fitthescrewsandtightento3 Nm.
Reconnectthe battery,positive (red)leadfirst.
Refittherider'sseatasdescribedonpage17.9.
Easethesensordownwardstodetachitfromtheengine.Recoverthe0-ringthatsealsthesensortotheengine(the0-ringisnormallyretainedbythesensor).
Note:
Makeanoteofthesensor'swiringruninordertoreturnittothesameroutingonassembly.
Tracetheconnectorwiringbacktotheconnector.Disconnectthesensoranddetachitfromthemotorcycle.

1. Removetherider'sseatasdescribedonpage

2. Disconnectthebatterynegative(black)leadfirst.
Removethe engineinfillpanelfromthelefthandsideoftheengine(seepage17.10).
Note:
Behindtheengineinfillpanel,securedbythesamefixingsasthepanel,isaconnectorsupportbracket.Theroadspeedsensor plugislocatedhere.
Releasethescrewsecuringthesensortothebottomofthealternatorcover.

Easethesensordownwardstodetachitfromtheengine.Recoveranddiscardthe0-ring.
Note:
Makeanoteofthesensor'swiringruninordertoreturnittothesameroutingonassembly.
Tracetheconnectorwiringbacktotheconnector.Disconnectthesensoranddetachitfromthemotorcycle.
Installation
1. Fitanew0-ringtothesensor.Lubricatethe0-ringwithasmearofpetroleumjelly.
Positionthesensortotheengineandroutethewiringasnotedpriortoremoval.
Retainthesensorwiththescrew,tighteningitto9Nm.
Note:
Theairgapforthecrankshaftpositionsensorisnotadjustable.
Connectthesensortothemainwiringharness.Reattachtheconnectortothebracket.
Positionthelefthandengineinfillpaneltotheframe.Alignthescrewholesinthepanelwiththoseintheconnectorbracket andframe.Fitthescrewsandtightento3Nm.
Reconnectthebattery,positive(red)leadfirst.
