2. Reconnectthemulti-plug.

4. Reconnectthebattery,positive(red)leadfirst.

Removal

1. Removetherider'sseatasdescribedonpage

17.9.

2. Disconnectthebatterynegative(black)leadfirst.

3. Removetheengineinfillpanelfromthelefthandsideoftheengine(seepage17.10).

Note:

• Behindtheengineinfillpanel,securedbythesamefixingsasthepanel,isaconnectorsupportbracket.Thegearpositionsensorplugislocatedhere.

Releasethetwoscrewssecuringthesensortotherearoftheengine,onthelefthandside.

1.Gearpositionsensor

5. Easetheconnectorrearwardstodetachitfromtheengine.Recoveranddiscardthe0-ringthatsealsthesensortotheengine.

Note:

• Makeanoteofthesensor'swiringruninordertoreturnittothesameroutingonassembly.

Tracetheconnector wiringbacktotheconnector.Disconnectthesensoranddetach itfromthemotorcycle.

Installation

1. Fitanew0-ringtothesensor.Lubricatethe0-ringwithasmearofpetroleumjelly.

2. Positionthesensortotheengineandroutethewiringasnotedpriortoremoval.

3. Retainthesensorwiththetwoscrews,tighteningthem to9Nm.

4. Connectthesensortothemainwiringharness.Reattachtheconnectortothebracket.

5. Positionthelefthandengineinfillpaneltotheframe.Alignthescrewholesinthepanelwiththoseintheconnectorbracketandframe.Fitandtightenthescrewsto3 Nm.

6. Reconnectthebattery,positive (red)leadfirst.
