Specification

Useasemiorfullysynthetic10W/40or15W/50motorcycleengineoilwhichmeetsspecificationAPISH(orhigher)andJASOMA,suchasMobil1Racing4T(fullysynthetic)orMobilExtra4T(semisynthetic).

OilLevelInspection

Inorderfortheengine,transmission,andclutchtofunctioncorrectly,maintaintheengineoilatthecorrectlevel,andchangetheoilandoilfilterinaccordancewithscheduledmaintenancerequirements.

TriumphEngineOil

YourTriumphMotorcycleisahigh-qualityproductwhichhasbeencarefullybuiltandtestedtoexactingstandards.TriumphMotorcyclesarekeentoensurethatyouenjoyoptimumperlormancefromyourmachineandwiththisobjectiveinmindhavetestedmanyoftheenginelubricantscurrentlyavailabletothelimitsoftheirperlormance.

1. Allowthe enginetoidleforoneminute,thenstoptheengine.

2. Removethefillercap/dipstickfromtheoiltank,wipethedipstickcleanandrefitthefillercap,pushingitfullyhome.

Note:

• Theactuallevelisindicatedwhenthemotorcycleisupright,(notonthesidestand)andwhenthefillercap/dipstickhasbeenpushedfullyhome.

Removethefillercap/dipstick.

4. Themaximumoillevelisindicatedbymarksonthefillercap/dipstick.Whentheoilleveliscorrect,theindicatedoillevelmustbebetweenthe maximumandminimumlinesonthe dipstick.

5. Iftheoillevelistoolow,addoilalittleata timeuntilthecorrectlevelisreached.

6. Oncethecorrectlevelisreached,fitthefillercap/dipstick.

OilandOilFilterChange

Theengineoilandfiltermust bereplacedinaccordancewithscheduledmaintenancerequirements.Becausethismotorcyclehasadry­sumplubricationsystem,theoilchangeprocedurediffersfromthosemanywillbefamiliarwith.Thisisbecausethemajorityoftheoiliscontainedintheoiltankontheleftsideoftheengine,notinthesump.Tochangetheengineoilandfilter,followthe instructionsbelow/over.

Allowtheenginetoidlebriefly,thenstoptheengineandsecurethemotorcycleinan uprightposition.

1. Placeanoildrainpanbeneaththeengine.

2.Removetheoiltankdrainplugfromthebottomofthesump andallowtheoiltanktodrain.

4. OilfiltercoverNote:

   • Removaloftheoiltank drainplugallowstheoiltodrainfromtheoiltank,notthesump.Inordertodraintheoneortwolitresofoilleftinthesump,thefrontandrearsumpplugsmustalsoberemoved.

3. Incorporatinganewwasher,refittheoiltankdrainplug,tighteningitto25Nm.

4. Positionthe oildrainpantowardsthefrontoftheengine,removethefrontsumpdrainplugandallowtheoiltodrain.Thiswilldraintheoilremaininginthefrontpartofthesump.

5. Incorporatinga newwasher,refitthefrontsumpplug,tighteningit to25Nm.

6. Positiontheoildrainpantowardstherearoftheengine,removetherearsumpplugandallowtheremainingoiltodrain.Thiswilldrainanyoilremainingintherearpartofthesump.

7. Incorporatinganewwasher,refittherearsumpplug.Tightento25Nm.

3. Removetheoilfiltercoverbypullingitgentlytowardsthefrontofthemotorcycle.

9. Positiontheoildrainpanbeneaththeoilfilter.

10. UnscrewandremovetheoilfilterusingTriumphservicetoolT3880312.Disposeoftheoldfilterinanenvironmentallyfriendlyway.

14. Ensurethatthelowoilpressurewarninglightextinguishesshortlyafterstarting.

15. Turnofftheignition,checktheoillevelusingthemethodpreviouslydescribed,andtop-uptobetweentheminimumand maximummarks.

Note:

• Whentheengineisfirststartedafter anoilandfilterchange,atleast1to1.5litresofoilwillberequiredtotop-uptheoiltanktothecorrectlevel.

DisposalofUsedEngineOilandOilFilters

Toprotecttheenvironment,donotpouroilontheground,downsewersordrains,orintowatercourses.Donotplaceusedoilfiltersinwithgeneralwaste.Ifindoubtcontactyourlocalauthority.

11. Applyathinsmearofcleanengineoiltothesealingringofthenewoilfilter.Fittheoilfilterandtightento10Nm.

12. Filltheoiltanktothemaximummarkwitha1OW/40or15W/50semiorfullysyntheticmotorcycleengineoilthatmeetsspecificationAPISH(orhigher)ANDJASOMA.

13. Starttheengineandallowittoidleforaminimumof30seconds.
